Meet Zalophus wollebaeki, the Galapagos Sea Lion!
These Lobos Del Mar are in an ENORMOUS colony on San Cristobal Island. As you can see from the third picture they’re even on the benches. This species breeds exclusively in the Galapagos and another island in Ecuador. They were ubiquitous. It was very cool to see all the different age groups from babies still nursing to big burly dominant males. We even got to swim with them off of Isla Lobos. The juveniles are very curious about snorkelers and will pop up in your face! 😂
The sound of Sea Lion barks is the soundtrack for the malecon in San Cristobal. Silly sea wolves!
