While both techniques involve blending, the key difference lies in the presence of hair at the back of the ears in a taper, allowing for lining up, whereas a fade cuts the hair past the ears, eliminating this option. While some perceive tapers as less aggressive, a high taper can still achieve a bold look. Personally, I find tapers to be subtler, shaping the side and back hair more precisely. For Jack, I applied a low taper on both sides, edged the back of the ears, lined up the front hairline, and boxed both sides with a natural finish. I completed the look by shaping his beard and moustache to further enhance his appearance. Once again, another satisfied customer. Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming my new client, Hemanth, for a fresh haircut. Hemanth recently moved to Sydney from India, just two months ago. He works as an Uber Eats delivery driver and mentioned that he often noticed my barbershop and cutting style while passing by during his deliveries. Although his flatmates had recommended other local barbers, something drew Hemanth to give Scissors Taper Rock a try for a refreshing new look. Last night, my cousin Frank, who is also a new client, came over for a haircut along with his brother Jason. Despite having his local hairstylist for decades, Frank wanted to support me and allowed me to showcase my skills. As a health professional (if anyone needs an amazing chiropractor who provides thorough care from start to finish, contact @frankie_sanu), Frank needed a hairstyle that suited his profession. He has always preferred short hair with a bit of length, and while he wanted to maintain that length, he also wanted the back and sides cleaned up without showing too much skin. I introduced Frank to the concept of a 2-block hairstyle. Although he was initially open to a disconnected undercut taper, I explained that this style might make the sides appear thinner due to removing bulk, despite him having a lot of hair. I suggested a connected taper instead, as it would be more subtle and more suitable for Frank's position, especially at work. After agreeing on the connected taper, I trimmed about 1cm off the top, focusing on removing loose ends and adding texture for a refined style. To enhance the look, I applied texturizing powder.
