When it rains, it pours. That’s definitely the case for Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun. Wun first gained popularity because of his beautiful dramatic pleats celebrities were seen in. When he debuted his first-ever couture show the past season, it was clear that Wun has many tricks up his sleeves, and all done masterfully well. His second couture show doesn’t see him stepping out very far from what he’s known for, the iconic Umbrella Dresses, rain looks came back this season but even better with a vengeance. Speaking of vengeance, the charred, singed bridal look from the previous season is back but this time, the bride got her revenge and is now covered in blood. It’s magnificent to see each blood splatter up close, realizing they’re all hand embellished with so much care and skill. Luke Meagher from Hautelemode said it best that it’s smart for young brands and designers to work on things they’re really good at and known for instead of experimenting a whole lot to establish an identity in the industry. Wun’s love for the Horror genre was evident with the finale - a red demon seemingly coming up from behind, in the midst of taking off the model’s dress. I’m totally down to be a victim if Wun ever does a horror film, won’t you? Also shoutout to Anabela Chan for doing the amazing jewelry work for the collection, for Miss Sohee too I believe!
