The Explorer2 16570 that I sold a month or so back for #whitewatchwednesday I’d owned it since March 2022 and had used it during the creation of many memories, both home and abroad. However it wasn’t without its issues! These included: Incorrect hands. They were tritium despite the dial being labelled “Swiss Made” which would mean they should’ve been super luminova and thus lume shots were indices only 😂 Aftermarket crystal. I knew that the 5 digit Rolex of old don’t have an AR coating, but mine seemed worse than most and when it was confirmed it explained it all. Lastly every single bracelet screw had been done up so tight that nobody could undo it. Only RSC have something that can sort it, so I never had a comfy fit. I put up with this as I loved the watch and was in blissful ignorance. I thought about putting it in for a service, but ultimately my love was tainted, so when a good price came it was swiftly moved on. Do I regret selling it? The actual reference yes I do a little, but I’m very happy that this watch is no longer mine 😂 Will another polar join the collection? Quite possibly! As @lopsterbags had previously pointed out to me, I didn’t own any white dialled watches - and then I got this one. So it’s special. And not only because of the colour, but because within small blocks, this one is less common than others. And not only that, but because I managed to get this one for a song. And not only that, but it was Tudor serviced a year ago. And not only that, but in many ways, this is a Daytona, without all the Daytona. So all in all, I’m feeling a lot of love for this one. Im sure I’ll get gasps of shock when I say this, and boo’s from the crowd… but despite owning this polar for 6 months, I really never gelled with it. It’s a fantastic watch, and a standout piece, but I found myself rarely picking it from the watch box. As the vintage fascination continues and arguments for wrist time are becoming quite aggressive, perhaps it was time to say farewell. I may have mentioned I like white dials. I also like titanium. So when I saw the @rzewatches Resolute Pro release with a white enamel dial I was intrigued. As luck would have it, I was able to get one on loan to check out. The high contrast enamel and black markers is exactly what I love about white dials. The applied markers are a nice touch as is the bi-color lume with green accents at the cardinal markers to go along with the frosty blue lume. All pretty impressive for under $650. I feel like the angular design looks modern but it’s also probably a look that could be polarizing—but I’m a fan. I knew I wanted a gold JLC 🙌🏽 I also knew it had to be a date model, I also wanted a clean white dial in a 39mm to 40mm case. White dial Rolex Explorer 2 ref 226570 for #whitewatchwednesday 🤍 I’m training for a walk over the Pennine Way with my Dad in July at the moment, some OGs will remember I did a similar thing a couple of years back and took the Exp2 with me on a NATO. The plan is to do the same again this year so it might be time to switch out the bracelet on this one and start training with it on the wrist. My only issue with that is that the bracelet on this one is just so damn comfortable! Should I switch out now or wait until the last minute?
