💦Why should you drink water at LEAST 15-30 minutes before class?💦 Doing so will help you to stay focused during your practice and not have to worry about disrupting your movement with water breaks. 🧘♀️ It also allows your body to give 100% to your practice rather than focusing on digesting the water in your stomach. Of course, if you are thirsty during class, drink some water to stay hydrated. 💧You should also be hydrating throughout the day before a yoga class (especially hot yoga), aiming to drink 16 oz about 2 hours before class to prepare, and then another 8 oz 15-30 minutes before class. 💧Another good tip is to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces each day. So, for someone who is 160 lbs, they should be drinking at least 80 oz of water per day. 💧On days that you’re sweating a lot (especially after hot yoga🔥), it’s a good idea to supplement with electrolytes! This will help with energy, muscle cramps, and replenishing electrolyte imbalances in the body. Come show your support & take an awesome flow yoga class! 🌞Get to know a little about Dawn: “I have been an ACE-certified group fitness instructor since 1999 and currently specialize in yoga (certified through AAAI in 2001). I am also ACE-certified as a fitness nutrition specialist and functional movement specialist. In my 20+ years of teaching fitness, I have taught step aerobics, cycling, kickboxing, weight lifting/toning classes, fusion classes, HIIT, core classes, and yoga. I was a runner for 25 years and have also competed in a sprint triathlon. My fitness background and my career as an Occupational Therapist both influence my yoga practice. My flows are focused on functional movement and lifelong physical and mental health. ✍️ Roxane grew up in New Caledonia where dancing was in her blood. She started her dance journey at a young age just like many of the students she will be teaching at Shine. Her connection with dance flourished as she soaked up as much Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop as possible. It still wasn’t enough though. She took on more training in Contemporary, Lyrical, African, Swing, Salsa and Commercial dance styles. Roxane’s dream was to train to a level which would allow her to come to Australia to dance professionally and to expand on her already detailed CV. At the age of 18, Roxane made it to Australia to complete a Certificate III/IV in Dance as well as a Diploma in Dance Teaching & Management. Since then, Roxane has appeared on stage at several professional shows both here in Melbourne and back in her native Noumea. All the while performing, Roxane began teaching dance to both children and adults. It became clear that although she had an obvious talent for teaching, she really enjoyed the sense of satisfaction of imparting her extensive knowledge to students. Roxane feels honoured to be able to educate the next generation of dance students at Shine. She brings a very encouraging and positive attitude to her teaching style, and as such, is a perfect fit at Shine.
