Denying ourselves singing is one sneaky way we silence ourselves over a lifetime. I've seen this pattern among adults everywhere: as soon as they get close to claiming their love of singing, a shame soundtrack begins, convincing them that their voice is not worth being heard. They close off their singing voice, effectively closing off their voice in other realms of life, too. A lifetime of silencing ourselves has huge ramifications for our mental and physical well-being that extend well beyond our ability to sing. Patterns of silencing build anxiety, resentment, disconnection, physical pain, and low self-esteem. Человек заучил технику и тупо копирует социально-одобряемое звучание!» хочется мне прокричать.🤯 Используя пример птиц, мы можем услышать свое звучание, принять его и зазвучать комфортно для себя. Сначала: принятие своего звука и комфорт - потом украшения🌺 Птица никогда не думает о своей гортани, она сливается с природой и дублирует её. I started teaching vocal lessons to this beautiful, sassy and loving human about 6 months before covid hit and she stuck with me through those rough times even though she could have easily taken a pause. As a result, our relationship blossomed into a beautiful friendship over the last 5ish years. Because of her gigantic heart, I was able to extend my work trip New Jersey to support her in her electric concert performance this month with @benhymanmusic and we even got to share the stage for a couple of songs. TIP: SOVT "Semi Occluded Voice Exercises are exercise that equalize the air pressure behind and in front of your vocal cords allowing the vocal cords additional freedom. A favorite new group of SOVT Exercises involve singing through a straw. Put the end of a straw into two inches of water and try singing a slide from Do to Sol and back. do this up and down your range and feel the freedom it produces! 🤩 INTRODUCING TEACHERS & WORKSHOPS at EVC 2024 🤩 👨🏫 MEET IAN DAVIDSON: Ian Davidson, Educational Director of Modern Vocal Training, is an internationally renowned vocal coach and teacher trainer based in Liverpool in the UK. He has been training voices since 2004 and is a founding member of the Vocology in Practice teacher network and a teacher trainer for the BAST (Be A Singing Teacher) organisation. In the past Ian lectured in vocals at the world-renowned Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and at the Institute of the Arts in Barcelona. He has performed as a Gospel Artist all over the UK and is specialised in arrangement and conducting of choral music. Ian completed an MA in Music in 2014 where he specialised in the psychology of performance, focusing in particular on the issue of tone deafness in the western world. He has studied under some of best teachers and vocal researchers in the world and continues to study to this day.
