Last weekend I participated in the #travelerhatkalchallenge and it was SO much fun! I didn't get this pretty hand-dyed fingering weight one finished in time, but I was able to enter my bright orange high-visibility hat for hiking in the fall🌲⛰️🌲This was my first time doing a KAL that I wasn't hosting myself, and I really enjoyed seeing all of the other beautiful versions everyone made! 🥰 I have knit quite a few of @dreareneeknits designs, and she truly knocks it out of the park every time with fun, relaxing patterns that you want to knit over and over (perfect for stashbusting). My first piece of clothing (modelled by my fabulous spouse!) I made way back in 2010! This scarf follows a simple shell pattern - a two-row repeat - that I made out of two balls of yarn. I had just discovered variegated yarn and couldn’t think of any other way to see how it looked in its entirety. The scarf is 88 inches in length (223cm or 2.2m) and 7 inches wide. The idea was to make it looong so it could wrap around the wearer’s neck as many times as they wanted based on their need and the temperature outside. 🌸🍭My blanket is finished🎉 @scheepjes Stone Washed Minerals used for the beautiful Hugs & Kisses Blanket by Jeanne Steinhilber 💜 I wanted to test all the 10 colours in the same blanket, so I chose a striped one to be able to show them in different stitches. Since I've made this pattern before, I knew I would love making it. It's out of my comfort zone using variegated yarn, and my perfectionist brain likes to have more control over the colours🫣😅 but it was so exciting to see all the colours appear! The pattern is so lovely, and I truly enjoy making it. I tried to capture the colours as they are in real life, but it's really hard. This is as close as I could get. I used Stone Washed Moonstone to separate the Mineral stripes, so if you are familiar with that colour, you might get an idea of how it looks. I have shared quite a lot of notes and details on Ravelry, and the link to my project is in my bio 🌸🍃 I think my favourite is 902 Malachite Meadow😍 To make it easy to see which one is which, I started with 901 Agate Aria and continued with 902, 903..etc. My blanket might be a bit busy using 10 different colours, but it was made to show the colours😅 I'm sure it will look very beautiful in just one colour! 🌸Yarn: Scheepjes Stone Washed Minerals in all the 10 colours available at the moment. 🌸😍Look! The lovely people of @scheepjes sent me all the 10 colours of the brand new Stone Washed Minerals🍭🎉 And, Oh! I love them all! They are so gorgeous, I really just want to have them unused so I can look at them😅🥰 I have searched for days for the perfect project, and I have started a blanket where I plan to use all 10 colours to get a better idea about how they look in a few different stitches. I will make a Ravelry project page for it when I've decided which one I'll go for. Link in my bio☺️ Update on my latest projects: I haven't been on IG for a few weeks (I'll try to catch up) and no new photos taken, but I have crocheted lots of pretty flowers for both the Nöelle Blanket and the Marguerite Blanket - both in Scheepjes Stone Washed - and I really love making them😍 I love the yarn and I love the patterns! The Marguerite Blanket pattern is so much more enjoyable than I imagined before I started, so I'm planning to make one more🩷 I'm making 41 motifs and have 9 more to make. I joined the first 23, and decided to add a few more😄 I hope my creativity comes back soon so I can take new pictures to post. This might be the most adorable project we've seen in awhile! Mary Ann came to the Wayland Farm Fiber day this winter with her daughter-in-law and grandsons. When they got to the JFM booth, Mary Ann let her grandsons pick out a couple skeins of Making Tracks. One of her five-year-old grandsons asked for a knitted dragon with the yarn he chose, and Mary Ann did not disappoint! She went on to find the Smauglock pattern by Mom & Mia designs and got to work.
