Went on a Gruffalo hunt today....! After the vom by Ted in the car, in which I'm glad I bought a spare change of clothes for everyone except me (only Ted needed changed) who had to go round slightly whiffy (i got caught by it when i was stripping and cleaning in the car park 🫠). Was quite nice but the walk was quite a bit shorter than i expected, at 0.6m or 1km. Nice big seating area too at the cafe where lunches could be enjoyed and snacks purchased. Actually a game changer, especially when they helped me load up the till belt at the end 🫠 they were so happy to have their own trolley. Decided to start a new tradition. Make the hot cross buns dough up and leave it out (proving, but you know 🙄) and if they've been good, the Easter bunny will leave us hot cross buns for breakfast. I get comments like these every single time I leave the house with my newborn twins. Though they are meant with good intent, I find them so incredibly negative and, to be honest, quite rude. When people say these things I feel discouraged, belittled and kind of frowned upon? They’re often said with furrowed brows or frowns on faces. And funnily enough, always said when my babies are sleeping sweetly and I’m dressed nicely - makeup on and hair done etc. Never when I am actually exhausted, or struggling, or babies are fussing. They seem so out of the blue and so unnecessary. Usually with these comments I’ll reply with something along the lines of “Oh I love it! They’re an absolute dream!” With the biggest of smiles on my face… because that’s the truth! I do love it, and they are a dream, and my biggest of smiles is genuine happiness 🥰 Twins are amazing! Wanted to get out and about today but reckoned all of the walks in the woods and valleys would be more boggy than last week 🫠 so we ventured to @widmerfarmpark Can you tell the toddlers chose their farm appropriate attire themselves 😂 This was my husband's first time at this farm but somewhere I ventured a few times last summer solo with all 4. It's great if you're in Bucks, Berks, Oxen or even Herts & Bucks! It's very reasonable at £15.80 for us all to get in today and it's just the right size for little legs to run around. Here’s a post for any twin moms out there… I salute 🫡 you, your doing amazing ✨ Being a mom, in my experience, is the best job in the world 🥰 but the hardest job in the world too. And being a twin mom is just another level of complexity to try and navigate. My twins are nearly 3 now and we’re well and truely in the tantrum, independent mind stage 😵💫 But like the poem above 👆 says whilst it can be double the difficulties it is definitely double the joy and love & they certainly are a blessing. 💤 Now twins and sleep - what’s the deal? Well you may have twins who have very similar sleep needs (this is more likely with identical twins), they may both be good sleepers, they may both be poor sleepers or you may have one who sleeps well and one who doesn’t. They learn so much just from watching me 👀 As a mama to two daughters, I’m so much more aware now of the importance of self love and to feel comfortable in my own skin. The other day at the pool, Aura gently poked my tummy on one of my scars, smiled and said very tentatively ‘mama awwww’. My original thought was ‘yes, my tummy looks a bit urghhh’ but I quickly realised that she thought I was beautiful. So I said ‘yes! Mama’s beautiful tummy’ and gave her a kiss. Over the years, my idea of beauty has totally changed. I feel my very best looking when I take care of my mind first, when I move my body, surround myself by positive people, have some rested sleep, drink lots of H20 and feed myself good nutrition. When I laugh out loud, when I read and learn about things that I actually care about, in nature and travelling to new places. When I do this it feels like I have an internal sunny glow of happiness radiating through my pores and lighting up my face in confidence, kindness and joy. First taste of veggies 🫛 the girls have been on @cowandgateuk baby rice and banana porridge for a few weeks now. But they turned 5 months old last week so we decided to start introducing some plain vegetables. We went with the @sainsburys simply pea pouch and they enjoyed it way more than I was expecting 😍 such big clever girls, they’re growing up too quick 💕
I will never pretend that things are perfect and easy. Instead, I will always choose to focus on the positive parts of my day. I won’t moan about how both babies wanted feeding this morning at the same time, that I was running late to baby massage because Tabitha wouldn’t settle, that she cried the whole walk home because she was hungry or that I ate lunch one handed because Lorelei would only sleep on me. Instead, I will praise myself for successfully feeding them at the same time. I will share how Tabitha enjoyed her one leg massage while Lorelei napped in the buggy. I will feel proud that we got out in the sunshine while it’s freezing outside. And I will make my husband happy with the fact I actually ate a meal for lunch today! 🥳 No day will be perfect, especially with babies, but you can choose what to focus on, what to put your energy into. Wow what a year 2023 has been! I survived my first year as a twin Mum and kept 4 children aged 3 and under alive!! I have successfully breastfed two babies at once for a full year! I got back running and lost over 7 1/2 stone!! I have never ever in my life felt so sleep deprived as I have done this year. It has definitely been the toughest year yet but also the most rewarding. My heart is so full and I am just so so lucky. Bring on 2024! 🤍32 🤍 Wow the year of 31 has been a mad one! This time last year I had a just turned 3 year old, 2 year old and newborn twins. The newborn twin stage was honestly the hardest thing I have ever done. The first few months of the twins passed in a blur. I remember turning to my husband and asking if it’s possible to die from sleep deprivation…it certainly felt like it could! There’s been times, especially when I’ve had all 4 kids on my own to start with, when it’s felt impossible and completely overwhelming. However I’ve also had the most incredible year and just feel so so lucky. My heart has never felt so full. The year of 32 brings so many things… I can’t wait to build on my weightloss journey and run both the London landmarks half marathon for the @twinstrust and the London Marathon for @baby_lifeline .This time last year I would have never even thought that I’d be in this position a year later.
