What materials do we wear today? Where do they come from? Who made them? And what is the significance of their place of origin nowadays? The labels on our clothing do not always give transparent information about the origin and used materials of a garment. Furthermore, to keep a stable material-quality during the recycling process, the labels need to be cut out of the garments again. ‘Made In’ links the global mass production of fashion with a new definition of locality. Rahajeng Rahina Nyepi Çaka 1946 🌿 The Balinese Saka year is started around the spring equinox (vernal equinox) on the day after Tilem nearest to the equinox. This is the first day of Sasih Kadasa (tenth month of Balinese lunar calendar). Balinese celebrates this new year with Nyepi, a day with a complete silence all over the island. The new year falls on the tenth month and not the first, it might have been established based on the observation of a group of stars of Wuluku (the Orion constelation). The first ten months of Balinese agricultural cycle would have been followed by the period of rest. This tenth month signals the upcoming dry season in Bali. Vandaag gingen groep 3 en groep 4 op bezoek bij het Wereldmuseum in Amsterdam. Wat een feestje! Dat was ook precies ons thema van IPC 🎉 De kinderen hebben een heleboel geleerd over verschillende soorten feesten, maar ook maakte de straten van Amsterdam al veel indruk.
