Utahraptor Far from their depiction in Jurassic Park, real life velociraptors were small, measuring no higher than an adult human's knee. A kick would send them flying. However, there was a related species that matched the movie monsters. Utahraptor was a very large raptor species found in North America during the early Cretaceous. Big enough to look a person in the eye and with claws and teeth to disembowel prey with ease, it would have been a fearsome predator. Like most species of raptors, it is now believed Utahraptor sported a layer of feathers. I did my best to extrapolate the appearance off of an older, non-feathered model. Acrocanthosaurus Acrocanthosaurus was a large carnivorous theropod from North America during the early Cretaceous. Living roughly 30 million years before the much more famous T rex, it was the top predator of its time. It was distinguished by a high ridge running along its back, supported by spines. Trying to draw a dinosaur in 3/4 perspective is difficult. I did my best to make it appear to be walking away while looking back. I did not have the exact color to match the model's underside, so I opted for a light green. I also chose to use a different shade of green for the back ridge to make it stand out. I'm also struggling on how to prevent the colored pencil texture that plagues many of my drawings. I am in the process of drawing a person, but the pencil texture makes them look hairy. '' Kaiparowits '' Kosmoceratops est un Marginocephalia (Ornithischia) quadrupède herbivore de la famille des Ceratopsidae (Chasmosaurinae) mesurant jusqu'à 4,5 mètres de long. Son nom signifie '' tête à cornes ornées '' en référence aux nombreuses cornes qui ornent la tête de l'animal. Il avait un bec triangulaire pointu et une corne nasale en forme de lame avec une partie supérieure aplatie. Alors que les cornes au-dessus des yeux étaient orientées vers l'avant ou vers l'arrière chez la plupart de ses parents, les cornes du Kosmoceratops pointaient vers le haut et sur les côtés, puis vers le bas, se terminant par des pointes pointues, similaires à celles du bison moderne. Cette collerette si particulière le caractérise bien. Il fut découvert dans la formation Kaiparowits de l'Utah, Amérique du Nord et vivait durant le Crétacé supérieur (76-75 millions d'années). Nasutoceratops est un Marginocephalia (Ornithischia) quadrupède herbivore appartenant à la famille des Ceratopsidae (Ceratopsia) mesurant 4,5 mètres de long. Son nom signifie ''visage cornu à gros nez''. Il possède deux cornes frontales et une collerette, son crâne mesurait 1,5 mètre. La partie du museau autour de la narine est fortement développée. Il a vécu au Crétacé supérieur (Campanien supérieur, environ 76,0-75,5 Ma). Le seul spécimen connu a été récupéré dans la formation de Kaiparowits, dans le sud de l'Utah, en Amérique du Nord. So, forget about yesterday's group shot with makeshift background. This was the plan for yesterday, but I forgot my dinos when going to the workshop. Anyway, here they are, divided into roughly even "teams" that will be used for testing of #dinobashcyborgisland On the right side C-Rex and Ionostegosaurus, each of size 4. On the left Lasercephalosaurus, size 3, Railceratops, size 4, and tiny Ankylomortar size 2. How to make a quick (not so much), cheap and simple Territory board for #dinobashcyborgisland ? View images backwards for better effect :) Terrain: 1. Get some packaging styrofoam, cut and break it it into the desired shapes, glue it on the cork coaster with PVA, tape it all with masking tape, cut some holes and stick some random "technical" junk", cover whole thing with "crustard", leave it to dry, prime black, prime gray. Note: you will need at least 2 rocks on 80x80 mm base, at least 2 rocks on 80x40 mm and at least 4 rocks on 40x40 mm. You might also want a pond or puddle in the future, but we are not there yet. 2. Spray on some patches of brown primer, same one you will use for a board, wash the whole thing with heavily diluted black and brown paint mix (dirty water known as wash), drybrush a bit of metal on technical junk, stick in few aquarium plants with hot glue. 3. Do the flocking with the board (point 4 below) to get nice blending between boadd and terrain. Board: 1. Take a piece of foam mat, if it has puzzle conectors, cut them off, flip it to the other side and press, burn, carve or cut some random patterns. 2. Cover generously with PVA glue, scrape the excess and cover with thick layer of sand, leave to dry. 3. Remove the excess sand, fill the gaps with more glue and sand, let it dry. When ready (not pictured) prime with your favorite shade of black. 4. Prime it lightly in patches of gray and brown in random patterns. Wash it with heavily diluted acrylic browns and oranges. Then start flocking. Best way is to throw flock on the board with no glue, then put diluted pva into the sprayer bottle and soak it all. Wait till dry. Tip: do it all while watching Jurassic Park and World marathon. Around Dominion you should be getting to point 5, if you only watching it while making the board. 5. Set up your terrain on the Territory and forget to bring your painted #dinoborgs to give them a photoshot in their habitat. Wait until the next day you will come to workshop. 2024 Mattel Jurassic World Hammond Collection Velociraptor Blue Blue, the beloved, and iconic lone survivor of the Raptor Squad, finally makes her debut in the popular Hammond Collection line! While we have had countless releases, and several variations of Blue over the years, this one, I am happy to report, is one of the very best. Rather than reusing or reworking the older Velociraptor sculpts, Mattel started from scratch with Blue. The result is a far more accurate representation of the character, as well as one of the best velociraptors we have gotten so far. The sculpt is excellent, and is loaded with all the detail we’ve come to expect from the Hammond Collection. Blue’s head is quite a bit different than both the original Jurassic Park Velociraptor, and the Jurassic Park 3 velociraptors. It’s closest to the original JP head, but features a bit more of a boxy shape, slightly more pronounced nasal crests, and a completely unique scalation. Her teeth are much smaller, and better proportioned than the original raptor. However, I find the Jurassic Park 3 raptors still have the best teeth overall. By far, the best feature of the head are the new eyes. The glass eyes on the Hammond Collection figures have been a sore spot for many. While I loved the idea of them, their execution on older figures left a lot to be desired. The pupils were set too far back, and were nearly impossible to see at most angles. I am delighted to say that is no longer the case with Blue! On this latest release, Mattel made the simple change of painting the pupils on the surface of the glass rather than on the embedded yellow portion. This allows the pupils to be visible at all times while still allowing a realistic sense of depth and clarity to the eyes. There is still room for improvement, this release is a massive step forward for the glass eye revolution! As previously stated, the entire figure has been completely sculpted anew. (The JP3 raptors had different head sculpts from the original, but were identical everywhere else) The new neck is slightly longer, and the body is much more robust. (Continues in the Comments)

'' Megalosaurus '' Megalosaurus est un Théropode (Saurichia) bipède carnivore de la famille des Megalosauridae mesurant environ 6 mètres de long. Son nom signifie ''grand lézard''. Il avait la constitution typique d’un grand théropode. Il était bipède, le torse horizontal étant équilibré par une longue queue horizontale. Les membres postérieurs étaient longs et forts avec trois orteils porteurs orientés vers l'avant, les membres antérieurs relativement courts mais exceptionnellement robustes et portant probablement trois doigts. Sa grande tête allongée portait de longues dents en forme de poignard pour trancher la chair de sa proie. Beaucoup de fossiles découverts ont été attribués à Megalosaurus, cependant avec les recherches plus récentes, ils ont pu être réattribués à d'autres espèces distinctes. Désormais aucun matériel fossile extérieur aux formations bathoniennes d'Angleterre ne peut être attribué au Mégalosaurus. Il vivait aux côtés des théropodes Cruxicheiros, Iliosuchus et Streptospondylus, des sauropodes Cardiodon, Cetiosaurus, et peut-être Cetiosauriscus. The long linage of the miniscule millipede scuttles back 89 gazillion years to the Arthropleura. Like all prehistoric creatures the Arthropleura was much larger and more horrifying than it's puny progeny. '' Ojo Alamo '' Alamosaurus est un Sauropode (Saurischia) appartenant à la famille des Saltasauridae (Titanosauria) mesurant 26 à 30 mètres de long. Son nom signifie ''lézard d'Alamo'' en référence au lieu de sa découverte. C'est actuellement le seul titanosaure connu d'Amérique du Nord. Ce gigantesque herbivore quadrupède avec un long cou, une longue queue et des membres relativement longs. Son corps était au moins en partie recouvert d'une armure osseuse. Ses fossiles furent retrouvés dans la Formation d'Ojo Alamo (ou Formation de Kirtland sous une définition différente) du Nouveau-Mexique. Cette formation a été déposée au cours de l'âge Maastrichtien du Crétacé supérieur (70 à 66 millions). Des os ont également été récupérés dans la formation North Horn de l'Utah et les Black Peaks, El Picacho et les formations Javelina du Texas. 2024 Mattel Jurassic Park 93’ Classics “Dennis Nedry Track & Chase Pack” The awesome 90’s throwback line, first conceived as a celebration of the Jurassic Park 30th anniversary, makes a triumphant return for another set of releases! The first of this new batch of reimagined classics is none other than the antagonist of Jurassic Park, Dennis Nedry. This version of Nedry is based on the Jurassic Park Series 2 release from 1994. He comes complete with an overly muscular build, and a non functional replica of his sprayer pack and gas mask. The sprayer and mask are combined into one piece for this release, but it’s very obvious to anyone who remembers the Kenner toys what the accessory is meant to represent. Nedry features all the basic articulation that is standard for (non Hammond Collection) Jurassic World human figures. The prototype photos appeared to have additional wrist articulation. I’m sad to say it’s not present here, but that’s not a big loss. The likeness is a great blend of 90’s oversized muscle nostalgia for the body, and film accuracy for the head. The only thing missing that would have made Nedry perfect are his Dino Damage arms! The included velociraptor is probably the least interesting part of the set. It’s the same sculpt we have seen countless times now. The one saving grace is the paint scheme. The coloration on this one is heavily inspired by the Jurassic Park 3 Re-Ak A-Tak Alpha Velociraptor. It’s not a perfect match, but it’s close enough to see the inspiration. Some have taken issue with this homage, as it’s technically not from the 90’s, but I give it a pass since it’s still from the original trilogy. It’s honestly disappointing that we are seeing yet another raptor. Especially with Nedry; a character that’s forever tied to the Dilophosaurs. It’s even more disappointing that the set doesn’t include a hatchling this time. The raptor is okay, but I think we all would have preferred a hatchling Dilophosaurs. (Continues in the Comments)
