It’s a time where human beings who are single and feel they lack love or being love unite and say “F*ck love” or “I don’t need love” or “F*ck Valentine’s Day.” But why? Why do most of us express this? Is it because of our fear of love and lack of openness to it? Is it because we feel left out of the romantic love that society continuously pushes onto us? Maybe we lack belonging.. Don’t worry because these are all feelings and thoughts that I struggle with daily. I have this irrational fear about love that makes me feel like I do not deserve it. We probably will never actually understand it until we take action in digging deep into that hole that causes us to feel and express our frustrations outwardly during this time. Yes, romantic love is beautiful. Yes, it would be amazing to be courted and treated for this holiday, but just because you do not have a partner does not mean you are not already loved. Whether you have family or not.. Whether you have friends or not.. That doesn’t mean you need to neglect yourself from giving the unconditional love that you deserve to receive from yourself. Self-love is absolutely powerful. It’s the best love to ever exist because only you know yourself best, so why not express love openly to yourself?? Trust me, I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s all about starting. Once you start loving and embracing yourself, make it an intention to not stop because would you want anyone else to give up on you?? Look up and look around you, There’s so much to love. There’s love all around you. Show yourself compassion, grace, and gratitude. You’ve been through hell and back in past year. Show yourself love before anyone else gets a piece of you this year. She/he/they miss you, so look in the mirror and acknowledge them. Pick your head up, Open your heart and mind, And be gracious. Hey loves!🌻 As someone who struggles to prioritize their self care practices, I wanted to create this to make sure you and I are holding each accountable during this time. Self care , especially for women, constantly is neglected because we are all guilty of being on autopilot. Life has a funny way of doing that to us. We mentally check out of our own needs because we are prioritizing others and only focusing on our daily responsibilities. However, I made an annual goal to stay intentional with my needs. They are extremely important. If you are not your wholesome self, then you can’t replenish and fill anyone else’s jars. Take care of yourselves. You must take up space. You must be intentional in doing so.
