A 5 minute walk from the metro station in Chofu is a street called Sengawa Ando Street. Here you will find 6 buildings designed by Japan's leading architect 安藤 忠雄 Tadao Ando. Renowned for his minimalist design using natural light and concrete, you truly experience this when you step into the structures. One great way to view it is the Tokyo Art Museum located on this street. Admission is ¥500. They do request (not required) to wear a mask and you cannot take photos of the building. But I've found many other places in Japan don't allow photography of the interior of his buildings. The other buildings are residential and restaurants. And that is where we stopped for lunch @sengawakinariya . They offered lunch sets for ¥1050 that includes a main, mix grain rice, miso soup, salad, potato salad and 2 sides. Everything is organic, pesticide free, MSG free and locally sourced. I had a grilled fish while boyfriend had a Japanese style keema curry. The food was delicious. The place was quiet and relaxing. The Hill of the Buddha (Japanese: 頭大仏, Hepburn: #atamadaibutsu , “Large Buddha's Head"; Chinese: 頭大佛殿) is a Buddhist shrine at Makomanai Takino Cemetery (Japanese: 真駒内滝野霊園) in Sapporo, Japan, designed by renowned Japanese modernist architect Tadao Ando. Opened in December 2015, the shrine features a 13.5 m (44 ft) pre-existing tall Buddha statue which was sculpted circa 2000. It is encircled by an artificial hill rotunda planted with 150,000 lavender plants. I like the progressive revelation of the giant Buddha statue. While walking towards it, one could only see the head sticking out from the hill. After cleansing the hands at the purification trough, one proceeds to encounter a water garden which serves as a boundary between the sacred and the secular. By taking a detour, visitors purify themselves with water and change their mindset from the ordinary to the extraordinary. One then walks through a 40-m long tunnel that is dimly lit with a folded and curved concrete ceiling. The tunnel represents the interior of the womb. ▫️Tom’s House is a very clever piece of work that meets the needs and relatively modest budget of the client while challenging the design rules and constraints of an upmarket residential estate near Queenstown. Spatially and formally rich, the building is inspired by the traditional shed, but the architect has twisted the type with an asymmetrical gable that creates dynamic elevations that relate to the local mountain landscape. Un petit point art contemporain / architecture / Japon (plus que cinq jours à devoir supporter mes aventures par ici) : L’île de Naoshima, située au sud du Japon, est une petite île de pêcheurs de 3000 habitants. Dès 1989 cependant, elle se transforme pour contrer les effets de la crise économique locale en projet d’art. On confie au grand architecte Tadao Ando la confection d’un grand complexe de musées qui abriteront des chefs d’œuvres. On plante des sculptures en pleine nature, on demande à des artistes de revisiter à leur façon de vieilles maisons de village abandonnées. Certains lieux ne sont pas photographiables sur place : ces photos ne sont donc qu’un petit extrait de la beauté de l’île, qui est certes un peu excentrée mais qui a été un vrai coup de cœur de visite… Les bâtiments de Tadao Ando qui révèlent son amour du béton sont parfaitement intégrés aux paysages, qui sont à couper le souffle (ça nous a rappelé la Corse ❤️) Les œuvres sont joliment mises en avant, et la visite des maisons est extrêmement chouette à faire ! - #tadaoando #visiterlejapon #japon #naoshima #naoshimaisland #artcontemporain #culture #voyageculturel

原來！！！！ 我們的相遇有其意義（單方面相遇） 今天突然想起為什麼開啟瀨戶內海旅行的原因。當時看到清水模建築太美！因為想看更多安藤忠雄的作品而一路追到直島去。加上之前發現草間彌生都已屆高齡了，於是想回頭查查安藤桑最近在忙什麼呢？結果！意外的發現…..我們竟然同一天生日！！！！同一天！同一天！同一天！（大驚小怪） 安藤忠雄有個雙胞胎弟弟北山孝雄，因為出生過繼給外公，便從了外公的姓安藤。安藤忠雄沒有受過正規建築的教育，但是參加了Semi Mode研究班（是一種由大學教授創立的研究班，屬於大學教育的一種），Semi Mode研究班是由已故的長澤節所創立，被稱作是「傳說中的美術學校」。畢業生大多都是目前都在業界第一線活躍的創意工作者，像是山本耀司。 還有人彙整了10個安藤忠雄的小故事（10 Funny Facts about Tadao Ando）。我終於，對安藤忠雄有了進一步的了解，而不是只迷戀外貌（建築）而已XD 01 安藤忠雄有個雙胞胎弟弟，名為北山孝雄，兩人長相極為相似，在東京開設北山創造研究所，經營企業經營顧問、商品設計。 02 安藤忠雄在成為建築師以前曾擔任拳擊手，並且未受過正規的建築教育，由於成績考不上建築系，因此僅在高中畢業後參加了Semi Mode研究班，是為大學教育一種，許多活躍於業界的創意工作者皆畢業於此。 03 能夠成為建築師，安藤忠雄要感謝的是那些因為他沒有建築科班背景而產生興趣的「奇怪的人」，因為他們的賞識，讓他能夠在年僅18歲時便設計了一個夜店空間。自此，安藤忠雄持續做中學，不斷成長。 04 安藤忠雄的第一個建築作品，是專為一對夫妻與一個孩子的小家庭設計的房屋，然而就在建築即將完工時，該夫妻才發現肚子裡懷的是一對雙胞胎，原本的設計不敷5人家庭使用，因此安藤忠雄決定將這個設計轉化為自己的工作空間，直至今日仍在此設計出許多驚豔世人的作品。而該夫婦也打趣地說是因為安藤忠雄為雙胞胎，因此也為他們帶來這個驚喜的消息！ 05 安藤忠雄對於清水混凝土的原料，他有自己的一套調製比例，鋼筋、沙土與水分必須有著完美的分配，並稱之為安藤混凝土(Ando Concrete )。安藤混凝土需具有黏著性不能太過鬆軟，且鋼筋一定要等距分布，才能形塑孔洞。 06 安藤忠雄在施工現場會替每一位工人拍照。「這象徵著我們每一個人都為著同一份目標而努力著，對我來說，大家有這種共感非常重要。」安藤忠雄說道。 07 安藤忠雄的建築風格也以「批判性地域主義(Critical Regionalism)」而聞名，落於現代與後現代主義之間的過渡，強調以設計與材質反映地域文化，且裝飾美學必須能夠表現其意涵。 08 在1995年時，安藤忠雄發起了「桃‧柿育英會」，為因地震、海嘯等天災而失去家園與親人的孩子募集教育資金。他認為人性的光輝便是能夠彼此互相照應，形成一個大家庭。 09 安藤忠雄在一場愛爾蘭的演講開始之前，被當地搖滾樂團U2的主唱Bono加上「混凝土界的世界重量級冠軍」的頭銜。 10 安藤忠雄愛狗的名字為柯比意，由此可看出安藤忠雄對於這位20世紀最重要的建築師的崇敬。 安藤忠雄應該是個天才吧，沒有接受過美學訓練的人，怎麼會對留白與光影這麼講究呢？ 另外，安藤忠雄與弟弟北山孝雄的照片，分辨得出來嗎？所以我們三個同一天生日呢！ #TADAOANDO #安藤忠雄 #處女座 #雙胞胎 #18歲出道 #建築師 #清水模 #拳擊手 #共感 #混凝土界的世界重量級冠軍 #柯比意 #瀨戶內島嶼之旅 #少數人的休日時光 (文字來源：維基百科、La Vie)

Meu primeiro dia na Bienal de Veneza já foi impactante. Visitar a Punta della Dogana ( XVII c.) a antiga Alfândega de Veneza, transformada pelo mestre arquiteto Tadao Ando. Conhecia este projeto apenas pelos livros, e vê-lo de perto foi uma experiência inesquecível. A intervenção sutil de Ando respeita a história do edifício enquanto cria um ambiente inovador e contemporâneo.
