I’m still here and I’m still sewing. There’s just been a lot more self care these past few months. I did finally finish my king size quilt top for our bedroom. I bought this kit at @bernina_world_of_sewing it’s Kaffe Fassett’s Checkerboard of Checkerboards with an added border. I’m planning on quilting edge to edge for the 9 patches and custom quilting the borders. A long weekend and I still do what I do every other day, in my cave binding and waiting for the next quilt to speak to me, isn’t it pretty! Thank goodness for this little old featherweight, it’s a 1948. I put the 1946 on the shelf for a little break. This is actually the only time I miss the Bernina that throws hissy fits, I haven’t been able to use it for months. The built in walking foot is very nice on the Bernina, when it works. I just finished up this beauty. Featherweight, Model 221K Red S. Serial number ES656519. Commission date May 15, 1961. Manufactured at the Kilbowie, Scotland plant. The machine is considered a rare find due to the Red S badge, which was only used on the black machines for three years, 1959 - 1961. Since this machine was commissioned in 1961, it was one of the last black Featherweights manufactured. It was time for the embroidery machine to go for its annual cleaning, so I am switching gears to pillowcases. These will go to kids in area hospitals through the non-profit @zachstoychest. These are so fun to make because I get to use a wide variety of fun fabrics and sew them entirely on my Featherweight. This is a machine I have on display for a while (not for sale). I thought others might appreciate seeing it. The machine is a Featherweight Model 221. Serial number AE989994, commission date May 24, 1938. The Worlds Fair was held in San Francisco, 1939 and 1940. A few Singer Featherweights were promotionally badged with a “Golden Gate Exposition San Francisco” badge. There were two badges, one for 1939 and the other for 1940. This is obviously the 1939 machine. As of this date, there are only 53 of these machines known to exist. I also have the 1940 machine, which I’ll post at a later date. Enjoy! Here is the next Featherweight that will go out on the sales shelves. Many people seek after these early models because of several features. This one is a model 221, serial # AF077538, commission date October 10, 1938. Besides it being a very nice machine, it has the highly sought after features of the Chrome Rimmed Hand Wheel, Scroll Face Plate, and Chrome Stitch Indicator. This is a wonderful machine, but what I like about it best is the price. I obtained the machine at an exceptionally low price, which I always pass along to the customer. Hello all! Well, I’ve caught up on the backup of customer service machines and I’ve got a few more standard machines out on the sales shelves. Time to do something different. This machine will most likely only be of interest to COLLECTORS. The machine is a 221K, serial number EG074731, commissioned Oct. 9, 1950. It has the beautiful Scroll Face Plate and is a Centennial with the Century of Sewing Badge. What makes this machine rare is the added decal on the back of the machine “Manufactured In Great Britain”. It is unknown how many machines Singer put the decal on, but they are extremely hard to find. It appears they came out of some commission dates, 1949 - 1951. As with all our machines, it comes with the full package. ORIGINAL: case w/full tray, controller, bobbin case, box of attachments, and manual. In addition: full 25 point service, extra bobbins, tension meter, 3-way needle threader, comp lubrication, and 1 YEAR WARRANTY. The recent retail sale price for this machine has been $2,350.00.
