Originally built in 1850, Kipney Steading’s beautiful stone buildings have now been sensitively restored and transformed into luxury, high-quality accommodation on the southern fringes of the Scottish Highlands. With its prime location at the outer end of the steading, the views from Robin Cottage are simply unbeatable. Spectacular floor-to-ceiling windows bring light flooding into the apartment and there is direct, same-level access to the surrounding patio and gardens. On the ground floor, the stylish kitchen is fully equipped with all modern conveniences and has a double oven, an induction hob and a table seating four. Last weekend we spoiled ourselves after all the stress of the last few weeks. We (including Lilly) stayed 3 nights in the West Gate Lodge at Jordanstone (an AirB&B place). It was wonderful! They had a spa and a sauna and a bath. We tried the sauna on Saturday. It surprised us that it only took an hour to heat up (with wood). But the spa was the big favourite. We loved stepping into that morning, noon, and night (and even in between 😆). So handy that it is always ready 😄❤️. Therefore, the bath didn't stand a chance 😁. We also had to cook on an AGA which was a challenge (not in the least because the pans appeared to have been nicked 😭). But the crockery was oven proof, so I could make a rhubarb crumble (brought the rhubarb from my own garden 😋). Hubby made a salmon dinner in the oven which was almost as good as my crumble 😜. The host, Rikki, was very responsive. Thumbs up! 😊👍. All in all a very good weekend 😊👍❤️ PS: we were very lucky with the weather. 📍@castlecreavie Incredible memories made with the family at this amazing gem in Dumfries and Galloway. My son had the best time meeting the animals and we even got to see some twin lambs be born. They have a range of accommodation but we chose the Mongolian yurt for the second year in a row, it has all the comforts you want like cooking facilities, a massive comfortable bed and a log burner but still feels wild as you are in your own field surrounded by sheep. We spent the weekend running in the fields, splashing in puddles, meeting the sheep, cows, chickens and horses and even used the private pond for some boating and wild swimming. This place is magical and the owners Ciara, Dan and wee Odin are amazing hosts who really do mean their motto "our home is your home" and go out of their way to make your stay as memorable as possible.
