🖤Beltane Blessings everyone! 🖤 Beltane is held halfway between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice, around May 1st. It is an important witch’s festival. At Beltane the veil between our world and the enchanted world is lifted. Traditionally, young women would wash their faces in the morning dew believing it would keep them young and beautiful forever. People would sing May carols and songs. Children would make a flower garland of two hoops with a doll in the centre called ‘the lady’ which they carried around the village. In Beltane festivities there is often a man covered by leaves-the green man . He symbolises the death of Winter and the birth of Spring. Another Beltane tradition were The Morris Men , they wear hats with big ribbons and have large handkerchiefs of sticks and bells on their legs. The stick and bells was to stamp and drive out evil spirits. The stamping and the ringing of bells was said to waken the spirits of the earth after their long winter sleep. So I guess it’s about time that we introduce ourselves to you all! My name is Rachel, I come from beautiful Belfast in Northern Ireland and I’m about to turn 40! My first experience of magic was discovering tarot cards when I was just 11 years old and falling in love with them! Coming from a Christian household I was told to remove the cards from our home… so naturally I kept them safely stored away, practised quietly and let’s just say I still have that same deck of tarot cards! 🫢 For me magic is simply about making wondrous and great things happen.
