Foster or Adopt Asher! 🖤🤍 Asher is a happy, friendly boy who just turned a year old and is totally over kennel life. He is under 45 lbs and the perfect size. We cannot believe that he’s still with us. He is a playful little guy who can keep himself pretty busy with his toys and enrichment activities. He does have moments of puppy energy so he will need someone who has time to keep him active and work on his training. Asher is crate trained and housebroken. He knows basic commands. He travels well in the car and likes to look out the window to take in the sites. He is the perfect little size for apartment living with the right amount of exercise. Meet Maggie 😍 Maggie was born September 28th 2023. Her parents were both therapy dogs at a school for disabilities and stress disorders. Mom and Dad worked together at the school. Dad was a 40 lb Standard Poodle and Mom a 50 lb Sheepadoodle. Maggie was expected to be 45 lbs at full grown size. She is currently 55lbs at 7.5 months and will continue to grow. She will need to wait to be spayed until her growth plates close usually a year to 14 months. She is not microchiped and will be needing this. All shots have been done at this time. She itches with Chicken and Salmon based food and is currently on Purina Pro Plan Puppy sensitive stomach Lamb and oatmeal food and is thriving. Maggie needs lots of physical exercise but only this will energize her more. Puzzles and things that work her mind with the physical exercise is what will wear her out. A healthy lifestyle of both. I walk her at least 1.5 to 2.5 miles a day and she has been in obedience class weekly since March 6th. She is non aggressive and mostly well behaved. She’s still jumping and paws at you and is a bit rough because of her size and strength. She is a natural herding dog and plays like a puppy but it’s a tough play due to her size. She is gentle inside the house with my small dog but in the open yard she plays full tilt and too much for a little dog. As of now she would do best with no small children or senior adults. She is a great dog but a strong puppy with lots of strength and energy. I will train new owner on commands and advice. She will need the right match. Fostered in Dayton Ohio Adoption fee $750 This will be a foster to adopt. Adoption will not be final until the spay and chip are completed by SRC’s vet of choice. All medical needs, preventative care, and approved needs of Maggie’s will be taken care of by SRC until adoption complete. Happy tears warning!! Remember Turnstile, the subway cat? Back at the end of March, we got a call about an abandoned cat on the two train. An MTA agent found her hovering in an empty car, limping and looking defeated. The train driver at that time said she felt a special connection and wanted us to let her know what happened. At the time HAR knew we couldn’t give her what she needed medically. So grateful to @littlewanderersnyc for stepping up and taking amazing care of Turnstile!!! Today we got an update from the MTA driver that the cat formerly known as Turnstile is getting a new home and a royal name: Lady Eloise Marie❤️❤️. Look at the difference, not even two full months later!! It took a lot of medical care for a deformed sinus and tons of TLC in foster care by @harlemkittiechick1!! It takes so many people to save one cat. From abandoned in a box, left sick and starving to fend for herself, to life fit for a Queen. Ready for some cuteness?! Meet our newest additions! 💞 A sweet mama cat and her adorable litter of four kittens. This pretty tabby showed up in April and was befriended by a kind citizen. They began to feed her and soon enough she surprised them with 4 little ones. We were contacted when the landlord got wind and didnt want this family in their yard. Despite the challenges, we’re thrilled to welcome them into our CCR family. It’s been about 24 hours since they were rescued, and they’re already stealing our hearts 💘 Mama cat and kittens are settling in, but they’re not ready for adoption just yet. Mickey came to HHR after being rescued by one a fellow rescuer. He is a confident, friendly, gentle boy looking for a home to love him. Mickey gets along fine with other cats. No dogs for him! He would be a wonderful family kitty. Mickey is about 5 years. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped, feline leukemia negative, and is current on flea/tick preventative. CONDUCTOR'S SPECIAL Walter has been with CVRR since early January. We wish we knew Walter's whole story, but like many of the animals that come through our program, we really know nothing about their past. Walter just showed up one day right in front of CVRR, but it took 10 days for him to gain enough confidence to wander into a play area at the rescue, for us to be able to catch him. One of our volunteers had been feeding him and encouraging him to come to her, but he wanted to go at his own pace. Fast forward, this happy, young, energetic guy is enjoying his walks and is learning to socialize with other dogs. Walter has a Lab heart and wants to learn, and since he loves treats, that makes his training much easier. Though we don’t know what his past was like, we know we can help with his future. Oliver is good with dogs of all sizes, has learned to play with the other dogs, fetch, and has swimming lessons in the pool. He's learning what he can and can't chew on. He stays in a crate overnight without accidents and is quiet. He is working on house training but is still pretty young so a belly band is used for extended times. Foster or Adopt Hope🌻 Hope has been waiting weeks for a home and at just over a year old it seems like a good part of her life. We know Hope’s forever home is out there it’s the waiting that’s the hardest part! This young beauty has learned sit and down, she walks politely on the leash and has the right balance of puppy energy and mature adult dog. Remaining with their mother and littermates helps kittens to grow. This period helps teach social cues, body language, as well as appropriate limits in play. Kittens learn from observing their mother. Most importantly their mother teaches grooming habits. A kitten that is separated too early from their mother can make a wonderful pet but is typically needy and dependent and may exhibit suckling behaviors like kneading or earlobe sucking. They may nip or even bite if they haven’t learned these correcting behaviors by mom. When a kitten becomes part of your family, you then become the main caregiver and take on the role of ongoing training and education. He will ask for attention by putting his paw upon you, especially if you were petting him, and then stop. 🐾 Georgie gets along with every dog he has met and shows no reaction to cats. He is house-trained with a doggie door, is energetic but not over the top, and doesn’t seem to be a vocalizer. He was very matted and was very well behaved while he got a shave. 🚨Fosters Needed!!🚨INTAKE CLOSED🚨 Shelters are reaching out to us daily because they are OVER capacity with dogs. We are over capacity with the dogs at our boarding kennel and we need them out! A few of our dogs have waited months, even years to be in a home. Some of our current fosters have taken on an extra dog to help with the crisis. It feels like for every two dogs rescued four are surrendered and it’s hard to keep up. As a matter of fact the sad truth is we can never keep up but we can help. Defeated is how we feel most of the time, but then we get an application for a family to foster to a dog and we feel a glimmer of hope again. Seeing that shelter dog regain his confidence and be happy in a foster home plays a huge part in their journey. As a team we work closely with our fosters to make sure the dog’s successfully transition into the home and we provide ongoing support and communication. Hi! I’m Maddie! 🥰 I’m a senior gal, but still have some spunk left in me. I like to nap a lot, but I’ll still put on a pretty good hopfest to greet you when you come home. For a senior citizen, I’m a pretty healthy gal. In fact, I used to live in a retirement facility, and I loved riding in my mom’s basket on the front of her scooter. I love a good thrill ride! Sadly, that chapter in my life has closed. In this current chapter, I’m getting used to a new life in my foster home. I have 5 fur foster siblings that are papillons and small like me. I occasionally like to play with them. I think I’d really like a forever home with 1 or 2 small, low energy dogs who might like to play occasionally. I’m a very quiet girl, I don’t bark…well except for at that cat that lives here. Otherwise, you’ll never hear a peep from me! I like to go for car rides. I settle right down on a blanket or dog bed in the seat. I love my cushy dog beds. At night I sleep all snuggled up in my deep bed on the floor of my foster mom’s bedroom. And when she has to leave the house, I enjoy hanging out in my kennel. I’m really good at going potty outside as long as I am given ample opportunity. I’m a good eater, right now I’m eating 3 meals a day of kibble and wet food to get some extra weight on me. I’m up to 7 pounds now! I should be back down to 2 meals soon because I’m gaining and getting stronger every day so I can move on to the final chapter of my life. I still have so much love to give. ❤️Foster or Adopt Poor Bear❤️ This handsome boy has been getting into a great routine at the kennel. It’s never ideal to kennel a dog but it keeps them safe and gives us the opportunity to work with them while learning more about them. Pooh bear is a young boy who is pretty chill. He has done amazing at being handled by all of our walkers. Even though we try to train our dogs the same way, everyone has a different style and energy! Poor Bear adjusts well and has the same cute personality with all of our handlers. He is the perfect size at 55 lbs and has such muscular legs. Definitely doesn’t miss leg day 🤣. He knows basic commands and loves doing shake! We dog tested him with both female and males and did very well. Poor Bear would do better with older teens as we have no history on him and sometimes he does get startled with loud noises.
