Feeling good after my first full week back in action since having the baby and the bite has been pretty darn good!! Still finding some redfish and some trout but we are seeing some nice flounder starting to push into the creeks with a couple in that 5 lb range. Bite should only continue to get better as more and more bait starts to show up! Release Over 20, by the numbers. We strive to provide real-time statistics on our impact, summarized in part here. One thing we rarely mention is that not only are we a 501c3 non profit, but we are a *volunteer-run* organization - from our Board of Directors to our staff and state reps. We pay someone part time to do our mailings and order fulfillment, but besides that *no one* is on the payroll. That means that your donations go directly back to outreach, expenses , and our participating anglers to reward them for practicing catch and release of their bigger catches. As we have experienced ourselves, the more fish you release, the more you want to release. The ironic thing is that as soon as these numbers were compiled, they were already obsolete - as new entries arrive by the minute 🤙 We are very grateful to our intern @rustin_seyle from @clemsonuniversity for preparing this slide for us and helping us to identify sources of funding for the future. First day of fishing in my new town of Pensacola. It was incredibly refreshing and a great sign of what’s to come while catching multiple trout on lures midday. This estuary reminds me a lot of south Texas with its grass flats and crystal clear water. The only difference is there are FAR fewer inshore anglers and waders here as the offshore/nearshore scene is the cream of the crop around here. This leaves the door wide open and much to explore for guys who have the burning passion of chasing trout. It’s going to take me a little time to grow my confidence and knowledge of this new bay system, but the future is most definitely bright. A massive shout out to @captain_evan_wheeler for taking me on a scouting mission yesterday. This guy is pretty much my twin brother and the dude has more @downsouthlures than anyone I know in Texas, haha! Book him if you want to get over here and catch um!
