#SacredSolarEclipse 🕯️🌞🌸🌚🕯️ Yesterday I read about solar eclipses in The Moon Book by Sarah Faith Gottesdiener. A very interesting synchronicity happened, though, in that one thing she recommends for small ways to engage with the magic of the eclipse is to create an altar to your inner child. She doesn’t say anything else about it though! The image is from the Magical Child Oracle by @divinemuses - a postcard from the deck. The Bear I’ve had since grade school. She also includes a ritual for “getting out of your own way”. I’d been thinking for a while about creating an intention candle for activation. Her ritual centers on establishing 3 behaviors to commit to and choosing signal words to help you get back on track. She suggests a yellow candle, which I had, and carnelian, which I had in the form of beads to decorate my candle. I am going to commit to ONE behavior which is to activate my altar and do a morning reading featuring my Word of the Year (I have three) which replicate nicely her suggestion for key words. In a year theme tarot reading I had done for the new year my card was the Chariot, so I used the Chariot from the Red Seeds Tarot as the main image. This is my favorite representation of the card. I love how much dynamic movement I feel from it, and at the same time, a sense of composure, connection and going with the flow. Relating … How do we relate to others and our Self ? Ever since we came into this world we have connected and related with others. We learn as we go along , in whatever environment we find our Self in, meaning that how we relate maybe a way that doesn’t really suit us, for many reasons, environment, family and our needs. We are taught to be polite, and there are underlying rules of who we should be, ways that we keep holding as we go through life….this can be a struggle. Relating is very complex, some of us are extroverts who love to talk and communicate to most people. Some of us are introverts that need far less contact. I do a Tarot spread every morning, sometime I use both my decks, a collaboration of the Red Seeds and Red Threads. I dont see them as my creation anymore once they have flown. I learn from the cards over and over again. I am enjoying getting to know tarot decks that I love but haven’t really explored deeply. This time I am going with opening doors with the cards as proposed by @tarot.shrink This is the Red Thread tarot by Linda Hill, based on the myth of Ariadne and Dionysus. My experience with myth has lead me to believe that the question is not whether it happened or not, literal interpretation robs us of the medicine that story offers. THE RED STONE I thought I might stop after the publication of ‘The Red Threads Tarot’ this year. But slowly something new rose up in me. I have always been fascinated and drawn towards Alchemy and Carl Jung. And so I have set about the possibility of creating a tarot deck. I recently visited Sulis Minerva at Bath (Aquae Sulis) at her great temple. This sacred site is always a powerful visit. The natural hot springs and waters were where she was worshipped, and still is. Sulis holds 2 roles. One as a dark Earth Goddess dealing with justice and punishment. Her other role is as a Sun Goddess who brings solar energy to the waters that could be drunk for healing as well as bathing in the alchemical baths. It has taken over 2 years to get to this point. I started by making a draft of the companion book (186 pages) an early landscape appeared. Then the 78 images were created over many months, mostly using my life drawings which were then drawn over, etched, printed and painted…and slowly the players showed up. During this time my elderly mother was growing weaker, care and time was needed in between my journey through the labyrinth of life, death and rebrth. My mother died on1/1/23….. she was ready to leave. Grief and mourning took over. But slowly life showed its face again and I went into ‘edit motion’…over and over again. Eventually the images and words were in place. The next step was to pull it all together …..I am so lucky as my daughter, Capella, is a highly skilled graphic designer, without her my decks wouldnt happen. Her creativity birthed the boxes, the book layout and so much more, and for that I am so very grateful. “A red map isn't easy to follow. Any document made of blood and bones is tricky. Wrong turns are easily made, and there are often piles of stones in the road. A person has to disregard time and sorrow and all the damage done. Is there a hesitation or perhaps a worry within a relationship you may have thought was very stable in your life? Perhaps you have known this for a while, but ignored it and put it to one-side. If so you may now feel drained or even depressed. It seems you might have muddied the waters to stop you seeing what was really going on. It seems there are a few questions to ask your Self. Are you blocking the truth? And if so why? Are you feeling dissatisfied, indifferent and sometimes empty? Ask your Self what would allow you to regain your energy and sense of wellbeing? Have you become hidden away in your comfort zone, and ignoring your Self? Apathy and boredom are tell tale signs of dissatisfaction and disengagement in life. Still waters bring us deep peace but stagnant waters hold no life. You may need to withdraw at this time, to be on your own to swim upon the emotional waters and reflect on your life. We all need to go to such places at times and it can be restorative, peaceful and healing. However we need to be aware that we can get stuck in such a place if we are using it to hide away once again from life. I recently visited an exhibition in the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, called Labyrinth. 100 years ago Sir Arthur Evans, who was the currator of the Ashmolean, discovered a 4,000-year-old Palace at Knossos in Crete …when he excavated artefacts from a long-lost civilization. Here resided the artefacts of a Bronze Age civilisation. We now know these people as the Minoans, named after the legendary King Minos, father of Ariadne. The Hermit… I was called to wander with the hermit since my mother died. The shocks of liberality and changes felt visceral in my body and my mind. I love Brigid and the celebratory days of imbolc. Brigid, the fire goddess,the divine spark who heralds in Spring, offering us healing and poetry. Her wells take us deep. In Ireland, Brigid is also the Goddess of death rituals and resides in cemeteries looking over those who grieve and those who have passed on.
