Hanging out at @sean_edelson awesome music studio, home venue last night, catching my old friends from Gainesville, Fl, the twins @devablanchard and Leaf Blanchard with their band @captiveeddies. They started the band at age 13, their influences span from classic rock, reggae , blues, folk, funk classical, bluegrass and jazz. I was honored to host them at one of the @mokshaartscollective art fairs a few years ago, check them out! I met the extensive Blanchard family at a regional Rainbow Gathering in Ocala, Fl. In 1994. My girlfriend at the time Titania and I where tripping out staring at the lake and their father noticed us and invited us back to their camp. This was a true hippie rainbow family full of love and good vibrations. I was a friend of their aunt Nora that owned one of the original vegan restaurants in Miami, @beehivejuicebar, she passed away from breast cancer way too young, I will always remember her smile R.I.P. It took me 8 hard hard hours, carrying a tent and 22 kilos on my back to climb a small beautiful and very steep mountain trail high up into the valley, my heart pounding inside my chest , every step a huge effort. Near the top I was hit by a storm and arrived exhausted and completely soaked to the skin but felt so happy and so proud to have reached the top and was then joyfully greeted by warm hugs, hot chai and cheering family calling out “Welcome Home” It was hard core with freezing streams and pools to wash in and strong dangerous weather conditions that took you by surprise - Almond, a friend and brother was tragically killed in a storm with a tree falling on his tent - an hour later a baby was born in a stream * - We were alone up there in the wilds of nature with no easy access and perhaps this was why there was such a high vibration of consciousness - all feelings were intensified, such a high energy, such a sense of family, of community, of shared responsibility, such joy and ecstasy, such a trust in the divine, keeping us present and love, beautiful beautiful unconditional love, meditating our souls singing in the wind, dancing in the sun, opening our hearts to all there is. Felix always camps the furthest away in the wilds, at the top of the nearest mountain, enjoying his solitude and his complete freedom. Desert love, Ollie and Hila, Shaharut, Israel 2003 One of my all time favourite Rainbow Gatherings. Harsh conditions in the desert with very little water and shelter, 6 hours from Tel Aviv, the energy stayed very connected, very pure, full rainbow spirit, giving and sharing all we had with so much love in our hearts for each other, the beauty of nature and Mother Earth. LA RAINBOW FAMILY 🌈 Un'altro estratto dal mio libro che vedrà luce tra pochi giorni! 📙 L’incontro con la Rainbow Family è un raduno annuale di persone che credono nei valori della non-violenza, nell'idea che tutti gli esseri umani sono uguali ed hanno gli stessi diritti. Queste persone si danno appuntamento ogni anno in una località differente, solitamente in posti incontaminati, privi di corrente elettrica e, per il bisogno di una totale intimità, anche difficili da raggiungere. Gli incontri seguono i cicli lunari, iniziano con la luna nuova e terminano con la successiva. Durano quindi più o meno un mese. Per raggiungere questo luogo ci sono volute circa dieci ore, di cui quattro nella selvaggia natura con un faticoso cammino. Rispetto a quello che si possa credere, nei raduni è vietato l'uso di droghe e alcol, anche un singolo soggetto ubriaco potrebbe disturbare tutta l'armonia o recare danni. Non ci sono regole, ma ci sono le libertà fondamentali che tutti rispettano. Un luogo dove ti senti libero di essere. Un bell'esempio di come le persone possono vivere insieme e in pace, nel concetto di uguaglianza sociale. L’elemento principale che accomuna tutta la famiglia è il fuoco, o meglio chiamato fuoco sacro, che si trova in un grande cerchio di pietre e rappresenta il cuore centrale. Passiamo gran parte della giornata in totale nudità a contatto con la natura, lasciandoci attraversare il corpo dai fiumi e coccolandoci su questi minerali luminosi, abbagliati da un sole che abbraccia il cuore del mondo: La Sierra Nevada in Colombia. Dei giorni di pioggia ininterrotta hanno distrutto una parte delle tende, un’epidemia di funghi si è fatta subito spazio tra i presenti e in tanti hanno dovuto lasciare il raduno. Nonostante ciò, gli incontri con gli sciamani e i percorsi di medicina naturale sono andati avanti regolarmente, i loro canti hanno accompagnato come sempre tutte le cerimonie. Quella dolorosa con il Kambo: dove lo sciamano esegue una scottatura sulla spalla, poi inserisce con uno stecco di legno le secrezioni del sudore di una rana che vive solo in Amazzonia, considerato il più potente antibiotico depurativo naturale ... 🌏
