Days 5, 6, & 9: Florence, Italy! Florence felt like a dream in the best way! It was so incredibly beautiful that it took a bit to wrap my head around it all. My absolute favorite part is that you could easily walk everywhere and no matter where you looked it was consistently beautiful and amazing. And I got to see the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge! I only wish I would’ve spent more time there and now I see why @ruta_bauzaite loves it so much! On our last night we got to meet @annenortonphotography and @avokusea and they are two of the most beautiful ladies inside and out! Rose Garden 400 varieties of roses in a beautiful and fragrant garden The Rose Garden in Florence is a place of extraordinary beauty, the ideal site for a romantic promenade or for a break in a green oasis with a panoramic view over the city. The Garden is in fact located in Viale Giuseppe Poggi, just below Piazzale Michelangelo, and from here one can enjoy a splendid view of the entire historic center, a Unesco World Heritage Site whose area includes the Garden itself. The garden houses a collection of roses (about 400 varieties) and also lemons and other plants, for a total of about 1,200. The garden was created in 1865 by Giuseppe Poggi, who also designed also the Piazzale, on behalf of the City of Florence, ready to become the capital of Italy after Turin. Built according to the French model, the garden has a bucolic natural setting, yet it was streamlined to accommodate the Italian style. In recent years it has been enriched with some works of art. Today it houses ten bronze sculptures by Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon, donated to the City by the widow of the artist, perfectly integrated into the naturalistic path. Die Farben, das Wetter und das Licht waren genau perfekt, so wie sie auf dem Foto zu sehen sind. All the other bridges were bombed or destroyed by the Nazis in the WW II, but it was Hitler himself who ordered the Ponte Vecchio to remain intact, after visiting Firenze and seeing its cultural heritage. So as a result: it's the only bridge that survived the WW II. This stone bridge across the Arno River was 1st built by the Romans as a part of their road Via Cassia that crossed it. During the future centuries, it was destroyed by the floods many times and later reconstructed.
