Flame cell (células flamejantes ou células em chama) são plasmócitos com uma tonalidade rosada na margem externa do citoplasma. Acredita-se que essa aparência seja o resultado de precipitados de imunoglobulina . Essas células podem ser encontradas no mieloma múltiplo, bem como em casos de infecção ou inflamação crônica. Flame cells are plasma cells with a pinkish hue on the outer margin of the cytoplasm. This appearance is believed to be the result of immunoglobulin precipitates. Eine Mott-Zelle ist eine reife Plasmazelle, die eine übermäßige Menge an Immunglobulinen produziert. Diese Antikörper sammeln sich an und bilden sogenannte „Russel-Körper“, eine Ansammlung großer, weißer zytoplasmatischer Einschüsse. Mott-Zellen kommen bei neoplastischen und chronisch-entzündlichen Erkrankungen vor, z. B. beim Multiplen Myelom. Außerdem sieht man neben anderen Zellen in diesem Ausschnitt noch 2 Megakaryozyten (Meg). ————————————————————————————— In the upper right (M) of this bone marrow smear, we see a Mott cell. A Mott cell is a mature plasma cell that produces an excessive amount of immunoglobulins. These antibodies accumulate and form so-called „Russell bodies,“ a collection of large, white cytoplasmic inclusions. Mott cells are found in neoplastic and chronic inflammatory diseases, such as multiple myeloma. A célula de Mott é um plasmócito caracterizado pelo acúmulo de múltiplos corpos de Russell, inclusões citoplasmáticas globulares compostas por imunoglobulina (Ig). O termo “célula de Mott” deve o seu nome a um cirurgião, F. W. Mott, que identificou essas células nos cérebros de macacos com tripanossomíase (1901). As células de mott podem ser vistas em discrasias de células plasmocitárias e plasmocitoses reativas, como condições inflamatórias crônicas, doenças autoimunes mediadas (por exemplo, tireoidite de Hashimoto e artrite reumatoide) e condições raras como síndrome de Wiskott-Aldrich e neurofibromatose de von Recklinghausen. Estudos ultraestruturais mostraram que as inclusões são compostas por Igs condensadas dentro de estruturas vesiculares derivadas de cisternas de retículo endoplasmático dilatado. Outros pesquisadores ligaram loci genéticos específicos à formação de células de Mott e hipergamaglobulinemia.
