And our final storyteller this Menstrual Health Day is the incredible Sandra de Araújo in Timor-Leste. 🇹🇱 Sandra remembers the myths that she was told by her family about menstruation and she doesn’t want other women and girls to face the same misinformation. She is also a strong ambassador for switching to reusable pads to help the environment and save money. Behind the scenes we had the incredible support of Zahra Sagran, who assisted with the camera and audio to make sure that mana Sandra was captured perfectly. From Vanuatu we have our only male storyteller, Aminio David. 🇻🇺 Watching Aminio share his story to a group of his peers is bold and inspiring. His story touches on the cultural traditions and taboos surrounding menstruation and how his lack of understanding about periods affected his thinking about women. He encourages open conversation about menstruation amongst men and boys and is a positive voice for change. Behind the scenes we were lucky to have the creative support of Gina Ishmael. Gina’s flexible approach and positive attitude meant that we were able to capture Aminio’s important perspective. Meet Tema. Tema is a young, vibrant female leader from Roviana in the Western Province, Solomon Islands. She is a strong advocator and a passionate practitioner in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) space. Meet Zita. Vaimasanu’u Zita Martel is a 63-year-old powerhouse Samoan mama. Zita is a prominent female leader and is famed for being the only female skipper of traditional long-boat (fautasi) racing, a role previously only for men, who has won multiple fautasi races in Samoa. Zita continues her legacy of breaking taboos by speaking candidly about her experience of menstruation and menopause, topics that are not discussed openly in Samoa. She talks about how having a period never held her back and her journey of self-discovery and self-reflection as she went through menopause. Meet Aminio. Aminio David is a 41-year-old male advocate from Pango Village, Shefa province, in Vanuatu. He is a well-known local figure and role model in Port Vila. Aminio is a father of three girls and works in the Vanuatu Cultural Centre to protect and preserve the custom and culture of Vanuatu. Aminio is the only male storyteller in the campaign and we are honoured and humbled to share his story as he breaks the taboo about talking about menstruation to a group of men. Aminio’s story weaves in his personal experience with culture and tradition surrounding menstruation in Vanuatu. A HUGE thank you is in order for the incredibly compassionate medical students of @msfchoice at @kcuniversity. They held a fundraiser in honor of Reproductive Health Month in February & raised $775 for our mission! WOW! They gave us the donation as an Amazon gift card & we were able to order: 738 pads, 662 tampons, 500 cloth bags for our period packs, 432 liners, 32 deodorants, & 24 pair of underwear! We look forward to getting these products to our community partners this summer. What an amazing support- thank you all again! ❤️

It’s been quiet from us on social for some time now. The reason. With so much heartache happening globally we haven’t had the words to adequately know what to say, and screaming into a social media void felt futile. So we have been doubling down on our work. Our most powerful project to date to combat menstrual health stigma in the Pacific is close to completion and we have been working hard on policies and procedures to ensure women and girls are protected in the work place in Timor-Leste. It never feels like enough. ⛑️Today marks a very special day for us…⛑️ Today we left North Somerset and made our first delivery of Grace bags in Bristol! Being able to grow into Bristol, and having the resources to begin meeting the need, is something we set out to achieve in 2024 and we’re proud to be meeting these goals, even though we still have a longggg old way to go! 💪🏻👏🏻 Nic dropped off these bags to The Haven in Montpelier which is a ‘first stop’ clinic for newly arrived asylum seekers in Bristol. The Haven provides a comprehensive health assessment for those who have not yet registered with a GP and people using the service will now be able to access free period products if they need them. We hope this is the first of many partner agencies in Bristol as we grow the charity and support more and more people in North Somerset, Bristol and beyond. Weekend donation! A few months back we received an email from a specialist with the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division asking for help with period product and/or hygiene donations for a youth empowerment conference they are hosting for older kids in foster care. We of course said YES! and donated 86 period packs and 100 toothbrushes for the event. It’s such a joy to have opportunities to lift up our underserved youth in Kansas City. Thank you to Rene Brinkman and Laquisha Maxwell for giving us the chance to help! ❤
Behind the scenes 👀 Who doesn’t love a sneek peek behind the scenes! We’ve recently reorganised our storage unit, aka my garage.. and we now have a system that works a lot more efficiently. The boxed product is stored on the right, packing happens at the back and the packed bags are stored on the right. Me and Nic are both busy working mums and we visit the unit to prepare the bags as and when we can.
