Squirrels at @stbedesscouts had a great taster session focused around St George's day! Squirrels were able to register using their painted squirrels that they made last week, played some games, made a sword and designed a shield, then they had to complete the Knight's Training Ground and attack the Dragon! Oh what fun and learning along the way those Squirrels had! 6th Runcorn Scout Group had their first Taster Session last night! We all had such a great time, most of all Jacob the Squirrel got to meet all the new Squirrels! We sang some songs around a campfire, played some games and learned about different trees, coloured in some Squirrels and daffodils then settled for juice a d biscuits at storytime. @praguescouts Beavers went hiking on the sunny day. ☀️They learned how to read maps and prepare for hiking. They became experts on hiking!🤩 We used our own map which we created during the session to walk towards a small destination where we could practice how to cross over the railway and walked in the cave and touched the natural water. 🍀We also found the spring flowers. 🦫 Our Beavers celebrated Chinese New Year at their first session back yesterday. They learned it was the year of the Dragon 🐉 and then everyone made their own dragon puppets. We played a traditional Chinese game of Throwing The Square - it is becoming a firm favourite among our young people! Our Beavers also took part in a log chew to add their ideas to our groups #outdoorin24 list - a list of 24 outdoor activities that we will all aim to complete in 2024! 🦫 ⚜️ 🐺 Cubs started their Astronomer badge yesterday by learning the difference between a planet 🪐 and a star ⭐️. They even got the chance to observe the Moon close up and described some of its features! (Thank you to Lisa for letting us use her telescope 🔭) Continuing the moon theme, Cubs used Oreo’s to depict it’s phases 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘 and then ate them! But that wasn’t the end of the feasting for Cubs! 😋 They were treated to an array of fantastic Chinese snacks brought in by Katherine, one of our Cubs. What a brilliant night! In the space of just over 2 hours we visited and experienced food from around the world. We started in the UK, then travelled to Spain, on to France, then Poland, on to Italy, back to France and ending up in Bangladesh.
