So many developers and renovators would rather rip out and start new vs taking the time (and 💰) to put the pieces back together. Quiet. 🔸️ Things have been quiet on the home restoration front. We had a mad dash to finish small projects before our first home tour in March. Then, we spent two weeks traveling to celebrate a big birthday. And now, we're in between projects, trying to decide which big project to tackle next. Of course, we have the regular spring stuff--mulching, weeding, mowing, etc.--but we don't have a real project on the calendar. It feels both strange and refreshing. 🔸️ As for the next project, we polled you all (what feels like ages ago) about what we should do next, but we still haven't made a decision. I think we're going to enjoy the quiet a bit longer. If things are slow around here for a bit, you know why. Another beautiful existing fireplace in our Kew Green project can be seen here in the sitting room. ⁠ ⁠ This mid 19th Century one is of a classic, deep red Rouge Royal marble which looks stunning against the neutral textured silk wallpaper from @Philipjeffriesltd and the reupholstered existing sofa from @Georgesmithfurniture in a soft blue cotton velvet. TECHNIQUE - Waiting for the 70th anniversary - The Sprint Veloce engine compartment TECNICA - Aspettando il settantesimo anniversario - Il vano motore della Sprint Veloce In the Giulietta model Repair Manual, November 1957 edition, there is a picture of the engine compartment of a Sprint Veloce, produced between late 1956 and mid-1957, between chassis numbers 2801 and 4500. How many small but important details we can notice in this picture! The 7mm black cotton-braided spark-plug cables; the hose clamps with 7mm hexagonal-head cotter pin; the burnished details, such as the carburetor control rods and the fuel filter connections; the fuel pipe going from the filter to the carburetors in transparent green plastic and the one between the two carburetors with the characteristic yellow spiral hose; the cam cover painted in transparent anti-heat paint (which over the years used to turn to a green hue); the cam cover tightening screws peculiar to the Sprint Veloce type 1315 engine. But one detail stands out above all the others in this picture: the color of the engine compartment. While the car appears light-coloured (note the band in the top left-hand corner under the mechanic's arm), hence Bianco Spagna or Azzurro Nube, the interior of the compartment is colored in a darker matt gray. This is confirmed by photos of preserved cars, in which the engine compartment is in matt gray anti-heat paint, so not body-color painted as on contemporary Sprints.
