The final student weekly mass of the year was full with students and faculty. Deacon Roy Goetz expanded upon the Daily gospel reading from John 16: 12-15. He explained that in this gospel Jesus tells us about the Holy Spirit, using the word the "advocate". Jesus told his disciples to wait for the advocate, meaning "the one who walks along side." Deacon made it clear that when we call upon the Spirit, we open ourselves up to the wholeness of Truth. To the one who walks along side us." We pray for our 2024 graduates as they move on in their lives, and encourage them to call upon the Spirit and remember that He is walking with them every step of the way. #subiacoacademy #onwardtrojans

Meet Camarion Raino, a senior from Van Buren, Arkansas who has found success at Subiaco Academy. In addition to working diligently for academic success, Camarion has persevered in his efforts to achieve tremendous success as a top Wrestler in the state of Arkansas. Through it all, he manages to maintain a humble demeanor, which adds to his appeal and proves to be true to his nature. This past weekend Camarion wrestled in the Freestyle and Greco-Roman Wrestling State Championships. He dominated the tournament and secured First place in both styles! In doing so, Camarion has earned the Coveted Triple Crown. The only way to earn the Triple Crown is by winning the state championship for all three disciplines of wrestling in a given year. This feat is only completed by very few all across the nation. Camarion did so in a dominant fashion outscoring his opponents in all three state tournaments 79-7! Camarion also has qualified for the Arkansas National Team for the third straight year! He will represent the state of Arkansas in the 285 lb weight class in Fargo, North Dakota later in July! When asked how he felt about the coveted Triple Crown this was his response: “I'm still the same guy. Tomorrow I will wake up and go work in the kitchen. Life goes on.” This humility is genuine to his character, and displays one reason that he is beloved on campus by both his peers and others. After graduation, Camarion will continue his education and wrestling in the fall of 2024 at William Woods University. His Subiaco family wishes him all the best and is confident that he will find success in college and beyond. Meet Anthony Gehrig, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas who chose to spend his spring break experiencing a new culture and the life-changing impact good people can have around the world. He and his dad, Jason Gehrig, Subiaco Academy Class of '89, traveled to Bolivia, where Anthony was born while his parents were serving as Catholic missionaries for 7 1/2 years with Maryknoll Lay Missioners. His first time back since he was 6 years old, Anthony was able to see the hospital where he was born, and enjoyed visiting with old friends and neighbors who all remember him as a child. Anthony witnessed firsthand the transformative power of providing safe water access to those who need it. Jason is a longtime volunteer for the group WEFTA (Water Engineers for the Americas) , and the Bolivian Waterworks group Suma Jayma, who designed and built the water system. The funding by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters of Indiana, the local municipal government, and the benefitting families, was able to provide safe water through household taps to 70 families in the Bolivian Andes. Together, Anthony and Jason attended the inauguration of this new water system for the small Bolivian village that did not have previous access to safe drinking water. Anthony was asked to address the group. His father translated to Spanish for him, as he thanked the people for being so welcoming and expressed his appreciation for the beauty of their village and celebration . This trip was a unique opportunity for Anthony that greatly impacted his perspective of the world and his appreciation for all those in it.
