Segunda parte de las fotitos que pude tomar del hermoso Nuco 🇨🇱 (Asio flammeus suinda 🌎- Short-eared owl 🇺🇸) ¿Sabías que en la cultura mapuche se le denomina Nucu/Nuku, lo que significa "pájaro de mal agüero". Creencia que, lamentablemente, se ha transmitido y conservado hasta la actualidad, sobre todo en zonas rurales y semi-urbanas, en donde se les lastima o directamente se les caza, en parte, debido a la superstición de que el Nuco es un " ave de mala suerte"; siendo todo lo contrario, un ave que cumple un rol ecológico importantísimo, al igual que las demás rapaces. Es por esto que diversas instituciones como Carabineros, PDI y SAG se encargan de protegerles con la "ley 19.473" que prohíbe la caza, tenencia ilegal, destrucción de nidos y/ o robo de huevos o polluelos de especies nativas. Por todo lo antes mencionado es importante que se denuncie cualquier infracción a la ley que protege estas especies. Nuco 🇨🇱 (Asio flammeus suinda 🌎- Short-eared owl 🇺🇸) Contemplarlo, siempre, me da la sensación de estar frente a una criatura mítica y es que los representantes del orden de los Strigiformes, siempre nos han transmitido a los seres humanos esa sensación de profundidad y misterio. Tal vez sea por eso que en algunas culturas primigenias, como la Yagán, en Tierra del fuego, se les identifica con "la abuela sabia Sirra", que "ayuda al resto de las aves a generar fuente de agua fresca para sobrevivir”. En culturas como la maorí, los búhos son considerados "guardianes de los grupos familiares, y como encarnaciones de espíritus benevolentes..." Mientras que en otras culturas indígenas (incluidas algunas en nuestro país) lamentablemente fueron consideradas como "aves de mal agüero, mensajeros de malos pasares y enfermedades" lo que les ha arrastrado de generación en generación una larga herencia de persecución y muerte, sobretodo en el mundo rural. Es en este sentido que se hace imprescindible que divulguemos y compartamos la importancia del cuidado de estas especies y cómo son beneficiosas por su importante papel en el control de plagas y en el equilibrio ecológico de los ecosistemas e incluso dentro de las ciudades. El Nuco (Asio flammeus) es una de las 7 especies de búhos que habitan en Chile, los que cumplen un rol vital como controladores de plagas. Los búhos se alimentan de roedores, reptiles, anfibios y otras aves, lo que les permite ayudar a controlar las poblaciones de otras especies. Esta especie que habita nuestros campos en Patagonia Costa es más bien diurna y crepuscular que nocturna. Posee una cara plana y de aspecto redondo, con ojos amarillos y anillos negros alrededor de los ojos. Su plumaje es color café amarillento, con un moteado café oscuro. Puede alcanzar los 43 cm de largo y pesar hasta 450 gramos. Los búhos están expuestos a diferentes amenazas. Una de ellas es el envenenamiento a causa del veneno para ratones, cuando el ave se alimenta de algún roedor moribundo. También suelen morir atropellados cuando cazan roedores que han sido atraídos por la basura que bota la gente en carreteras y caminos. Big global day!!! Uno de los días más esperados del año!! Miles de personas en todo el mundo salen a censar aves!! Aportando por medio de la plataforma Ebird a la ciencia. Es un día en donde puedes hacer salidas pelagicas, visitar humedales, cerros, playas o incluso desde la ventana de tu casa. Es un día que transmite mucha alegría en quienes disfrutamos del pajareo, porque nos encontramos con amigos, conversamos con personas y aprendemos mucho. Pero también es un día en donde uno puede observar malas prácticas y un mal manejo del medio ambiente si es que no se hace con responsabilidad. Si queremos seguir teniendo Big Dayss debemos ayudar a perpetuar los espacios de estas hermosas aves. Todos podemos generar un cambio positivo en la naturaleza. Nuestro recorrido fue: Salida pelagica en Quintero Humedal de mantagua Zona rapaz en Quintero Reconocimos 87 especies, dentro de estas, tuve 6 lifer. Así pasó, cuando me encontraba en la reserva de conservación de @exploratravel y ya estaba oscureciendo, este hermoso búho se dedicó a cazar justo frente a nuestros ojos! Fue cuando corrí a buscar la cámara y alcancé a disparar 📸 Un momento bellísimo! 🇺🇸 When you look for birds they simply don’t show up or when you don’t bring the camera with you they start to appear 💥 like magic! It happened just like this at Explora conservation reserve and it was getting dark when this owl started to hunt just in front of our eyes!
