I was responsible for artworks for the dining room and back office at Six Senses Kyoto. It depicts Japanese Shintoism, nature and yokai, and as it is a dining room, traditional Kyoto vegetables are also featured. The graphic was transformed into Nishijin weaving by Nishijin Ori KYOGO, a weaver of Nishijin textiles in Kyoto. They used more than five different coloured threads and gold threads to create a luxurious five-metre Nishijin textile. Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spa has won numerous awards, including the prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine, the most prestigious award in the travel industry. I am very happy to have been involved in this project in Kyoto, a city I love and a hotel that values local nature, culture, sustainability and service design for the people working in the hotel.
