Dandelions have a bad reputation. Nasty weeds that everyone wants rid of. I love a dandelion. The little yellow flower reminds me of the sun and who hasn’t used the seeds to tell the time?! When I first started exploring mediumship I made contact with my guide Violet. Violet was pretty much Wednesday Addams but with purple in her hair and striped tights. Violet was the first guide I had any contact with and I assumed she was my main guide. However, after a few weeks of strong contact she seemed to back off. Bedtime rituals are the perfect way to wind down after a busy day. I usually begin with a relaxing bath with essential oils and Epsom salts. I follow this with journaling, a throw back to my teenage diary! I find writing really therapeutic. Finally I do my daily meditation. Sometimes it’s guided, sometimes it’s one that you can leave on while you sleep. Sometimes it’s just one with rain or birdsong to calm my racing mind so I can sleep. Happy Earth Day 🌎 Eco-anxiety describes the feeling of dread or overwhelm that can come up when thinking of the state of the planet and the uncertainty of the future. It can make you feel hopeless or angry. There are times this bubbles up for me, too, and in those moments, I try to pause, allow the feelings to be, then see how I can move on from them. This is important because we are not able to be in the best position to make change when we allow the anxiety to consume. One of the best ways to connect to the Earth is through gratitude. You can take a walk and note what you feel grateful for – the sun on your face, the gentle breeze rustling the trees, buzz of bees pollinating the flowers, songs of the birds. I love walking barefoot in the grass as much as possible. Try whatever helps you to feel most grounded. When we feel more connected to the Earth, we feel more empowered to do our part in protecting it. Use these affirmations in a meditation of your choosing or to calm when eco-anxiety runs high. I am obsessed with herbs! The properties that they have are just amazing. I used ginger in both my pregnancies to help with morning sickness. Lavender is my absolute favourite to help keep me calm. There are lots of bath rituals out there, which is fabulous. But if you don’t have access to a bath, or you just don’t like baths, then there are some rituals you can do in the shower. One that I do regularly is to visualise all the negative energy that I have come into contact with is stuck to me like mud. Stand under the water in the shower and visualise the water washing all the mud off you and down the drain. Taking all the negativity with it. Self-care means taking the time to do things that help you live well and improve both your physical health and mental health. This can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact. My go to self care routine includes a bath containing Epsom salts, lavender, chamomile, rose petals, rose quartz and amethyst. I light some candles and put on a guided meditation. I find this is the best way for me to relax, unwind and get myself back on track. I also journal a lot. For many of us, worthiness is a long project. Society teaches us in many different ways that we shouldn’t get ‘above our station’ or expect for, or ask for, too much. Undoing this programming can take years. The old script of “Who do you think you are?” can dominate if we don’t bring consciousness to it. It’s ok to be you. It’s ok to be the biggest and best version of you that you can be. It’s ok to want things and it’s ok to ask for things. You are loved. You are lovable. You are loving. This affirmation helps develop a sense of self-worth. You are deserving. you don’t have to do or be anything other than what you’re doing now. We all deserve peace and happiness and joy. Of course it’s not possible to be happy all the time and we wouldn’t know what happiness was if we didn’t have the opposite experience. ‘Negative’ emotions are not a bad thing, they give us a contrasting experience and help us choose something different. It’s being consciously aware of how we feel that’s important, and choosing how we feel rather than thinking it’s outside of our control. I find mantras very helpful in providing a quick boost. Procrastination-Busting Magical Bath If, like me this week, procrastination has been a bit of a problem, this simple bath spell is your solution. Try it in the morning before you begin your day. You will need: -upbeat music of your choice -peppermint essential oil –gemstones of your choice (citrine, amethyst, or clear quartz are traditional choices for motivation) -energizing tea (orange, lemon, or peppermint are perfect for this intention) Step 1 Run a hot bath. On the first day of each month, grab your ground cinnamon and step outside the front door of your home or residence. With the door still open, sprinkle cinnamon into your hand. Hold your hand out in front of you and step up to the threshold. Blow the cinnamon from your hand into your home from outside. As you do so, imagine that your home is being filled with blessings of abundance. This week I am remembering my Dad. He passed away 9 years ago. Grief still overwhelms me at times, and I really miss his voice and cuddles. 💔 I will be performing this Remembrance spell on the day he passed and spending time remembering. Cast this spell to remember, honor, and cope with someone who has died. Gather a white candle, a pink candle (or whatever color candle you choose), a match or lighter, an item that belonged to the person or reminds you of them, a toothpick, a cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa, a piece of paper, and a pen. To cast the spell: Choose a day of significance to you and the deceased person, like a birthday or the day they died, to do this ritual. Carve the person’s name into the candles and light them using a match or lighter. Hold the special item that reminds you of them as you watch the flames, thinking about the happy memories you shared and the things you loved about the person. Make a relaxing cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa. Write a letter to the person who passed as you sip on your drink. The letter can be any length you’d like, as long as it comes from the heart. Let the candles burn out as you write. When you’ve finished, read the letter out loud so their spirit can hear you.
