“The grasshopper is a symbol of good luck and fortune, focus and abundance.” This engagement session was everything. This couple is dear friends of my husband and I, and their story is absolutely amazing. They’ve gone through so much in the years that they’ve been together, including moving across the country, beating cancer, loss of loved ones and so much more. But the bond between them is unbeatable. I did my best to capture the things that mean the most to them as a couple, including their motorcycle, books and even beer! ✨ Welcone to our #storytellingtopictuesday ✨ This weeks topic is “Reason To Trust Your Photographer” I love this topic! There are many reasons to trust your photographer. So let’s talk about that a little! 1. Styling - Styling is a huge part of Photography! The items you wear can either make or break your session! That is why I have a full client closet, and will help you style your entire family in a way that is cohesive. I will mix textures and patterns, neutrals and colors. I’ll add layers along with accessories. Adding it all together can help take your session to the r next level! 2. Lighting - Golden hour! When it comes to creating the best images with the best light, you cannot beat golden hour! You have to trust your photographer when it comes to what time of the day to shoot your session. Golden hour provides the best lighting, it’s warm without being too bright. I know sometimes, that time does not line up with your schedule, but it’s best to trust your photographer and do it during golden hour to ensure you get the best possible images. 3. Locations - locations are just as important as lighting and styling, most photographers, including myself have certain spots that we have scouted and made sure work great for sessions. Not all locations are created equal, and that is why generally us photographers only use certain spots. 4. Posing/Prompts - I am a storytelling photographer, which basically means I don’t do much posing. I will guide your family to create natural images of love, laughter, and joy. Trusting me during that process is necessary. I will prompt and pose you guys to ensure we create flattering images with all the best details. So what do you think? Life is a bit hectic right now for me, between the holidays, busy season, my hat business, home life, motherhood and sadly a family death.. things are all piling up on me at once. What we shoot with, what our settings are, etc. My gear is a Canon R6 & 35mm lens! My setup is all around perfect and strong! Great for indoor and outdoor, low light or golden hour. I can do it all with my strip! For these images, my settings were 2.5, 1/160 & ISO 200. If you aren’t a photographer, that probably sounds like another language haha, but that’s why being a photographer isn’t just clicking a button! You have to understand the settings on your camera, and change them consistently through a session and do it on the drop of a dime.
