Meet Lucie. (Lucy en francais) She has been named after my favorite olive varietal, Lucques, grown primarily in the Languedoc region in southern France. Our olive tree was purchased at @gemmellsgarden in Brockville, not sure of the species, but thrilled to have an olive tree in the kitchen! Lucie so far is enjoying her south facing window. Hopefully that will keep her happy. I love olive oil and when I can source the best, I do. The Italians also know a thing or two about olive oil! I was so excited to find, local small business, Gamma Imports. She sources and offers single source Tuscan olive oil. Today was a very special day at Maison Maitland. Thanks to the great “mother daughter”framing duo at @hangupsframing in Brockville, we installed our big art showcase pieces in our vacation villas. My favorite will always be this original Josephine Baker poster from her last show in Monte Carlo in 1974. We saw a smaller version of it in her château dressing room in France last Fall. I thought it would be amazing if we could find an original somewhere in North America. We did, in a gallery in New York @chisholm_larsson . So now she proudly stands on her own stage again in our Chablis villa for our guests to enjoy. A book about her extraordinary life and breaking so many barriers is on the coffee table for all to discover Baker.
