Hi everyone, it’s me Henry. This morning the Waitriss should have been delighted to wake up and find me (actually it was Frienry) sleeping across her face purring quite loudly. Unfortunately, I was interfering with her breathing, so she rolled over. I sighed loudly and acted slightly offended, so she fawned over me begging forgiveness. I had the first dose of a new type of chemotherapy at my oncology appointment Friday, so the Waitriss is watching me extra closely. So far I’m feeling good, napping a bit extra and maybe not eating as much as I should (or maybe that’s just the Waitriss imagination—either way I’m getting more treats). To break up your timeline and because it is shabbat, here are some photos of Sammy. She’s my pretty princess and no one can ever tell me I wasn’t meant to be her papa. Sammy is trained to detect AFIB. She detects AFIB even before I register it or it can be measured on my watch. In July of 2023, I went into sudden AFIB out of the blue, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have been able to detect it early and get an ambulance. Because of her, I was diagnosed with two failing valves and underwent heart surgery in August of 2023 in the hopes to relieve the AFIB. I still have the failing valves, but the surgery provided immediate relief and reduced the chronic fatigue that is a hallmark of this condition. I don’t know what I would do without this baby. A dear friend of mine recently lost their own fur baby. As I help guide my friend through the process of losing a beloved member of the family, I hold Sammy closer (when she lets me.)
