Som navnet tilsier er klokken ment som en hyllest til den originale Art Deco stilen Reverso var inspirert av ved lanseringen in 1931. Det spesielle med dette uret er at klokken har innsyn til et svært pent dekorert urverk på andre siden av skiven. Hele urverket er håndgravert med intrikate mønstre og små detaljer. No brand should be a heritage brand, but it’s important to look to history for inspiration. One of the best recent example of this was the Reverso Tribute to 1931, released in 2011. With the success of something like the Cartier Prive collection, I often wonder if another brand could look to its history to launch a similar, focused collection. Many brands could do more storytelling about their history through their modern collection, perhaps none more than JLC because of its rich watchmaking history. The TT1931 was a perfect example – simply “Reverso” on the dial, syringe hands (on the 2011 U.S. edition), Casa Fagliano strap – so many little nods to the history of JLC and the Reverso. And a ton of great collectors I know snapped up these Tributes (extra points for the syringe hands!). To me, the Reverso is one of the 4-5 best watches ever made and the Tribute to 1931 did an excellent job telling that story. Watches I (mostly) admire no. 8 - the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Duoface! The watchmaker's, watchmaker - Jaeger-LeCoultre (JLC). At certain points over the past few decades, JLC had provided the movements for Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe watches, while making their own stunning and highly complicated timepieces. Founded in 1833, JLC is one of the few brands that produce all the components of their movements in-house. Their watches are highly regarded by even the most casual watch enthusiast, but does not necessarily always get the recognition it deserves beyond the watch community (mainly down to marketing). The Reverso was first released in 1931 and is probably the most well recognized model from JLC. Originally designed to be worn by Polo players and withstand the rigors of the game. The case could be flipped to protect the watch, exposing only the steel closed back during a match. Today the Reverso appeals to a much larger customer base and comes in many variants (including the steel case back version) with separate watch faces and complications on either sides. The version pictured here (photo 1) has an annual calendar with moo phase on one face and an elegant time with day/night indicator on the flip side. The second variant (photo 2) has an stunning array of diamonds along the top and bottom edges of the case showcasing the versatility of the Reverso line-up to appeal to both men and women.
