With all the racial tension that is going on in America and even in other parts of the world. I came to appreciate my small island majority black nation. While we had/have our share of racial injustices , I am greatful to our forefathers for fighting for majority rule and foremothers for the womens sufferage movement; that allowed our votes to count and women voices to be heard. As a BLACK woman in technology it is my duty to share my knowledge and opportunities to other girls and boys in my demographic. Because education is POWER. This is why (despite it being alot right now), I will continue to use this platform to help them fight the systems that was created to keep them down. This is a classic and truly authentic, hype, enjoyable chat with the ever so fun and charming Treach and Vinny of this Iconic duo. What's so special about it is that this event was 3 days long. It was concerts, parties, boat shows, car shows, parades, fashion shows, contests and so on, all to promote "Stopping the Violence," and these guys were down from day one. They mingled and partied and just shared good old conversation with people. They are pretty great guys! This was my birthday weekend 15 years ago and I was working 24-7 four days straight. 😕 (sucks! I know)... I camped out and waited 3 days for this interview and got it at the final hour! Sunburnt, flopped hair, without my wardrobe change at the last event of the weekend, late in the evening out on a Grand Bahama beach where they had just performed and we were all dead tired, but these guys kept their word and granted us this interview and I am so grateful for that. This is just a snippet of it, nonetheless, it shows that when people love what they do, it just isn't work, as was the case with all 3 of us weary cats in this moment, and even after the cameras shut off, WE, meaning the production crew and the artists just continued talking, laughing and having a great time, which makes for even greater memories than those on camera sometimes! #stepbacksunday with #marymary. HAPPY SUNDAY! Wanted to share some #inspiration today. This interview changed my life then and moved me again when I recently came across it. These women, Tina and Erica of the gospel duo, "Mary Mary" are inspiring and passionate in their music, their words and most of all, in Christ. This was one of my first #celebrityinterviews at the start of what became a 20 year career and I was blessed to have met them early on. Why?... Because this encounter helped me realize that I could survive in the world of #entertainment and remain myself -- morals and principles in tact. They helped cement my desire to be uncompromising in my belief that "what is for me will be" and that if I walked the right path, I might lose some, but God would always bring me out on top at the end of a situation, and He did! @island_grooves became a phenomenon far beyond our goals and belief and I was able to maintain my brand as the host, and respect from all with whom I worked. This was important to me because I was a wife, I knew I might be a mother one day, and I knew many young people watched me on and off screen and I wanted them to see that respect for themselves is the best way to accomplish what they truly desired in life. Mary Mary exemplifies this and God allowed our paths to cross THEN because he knew the world I was about to encounter. He is good all the time and all the time, He is good! #throwback from my "modelling" days 💄💄💄📍📍📍 * * 📖 BACKSTORY: I came across this advertisement recently. A close friend presented me the opportunity to represent her bath & body line years ago and I enjoyed doing it because I was so proud of her innovation and enthusiasm at such a young age 🤗 I would not have done this for just anybody. It took me way out of my comfort zone and I was a little nervous about what people would say and if they would criticize me or my body. BUT I decided to let it roll 'cause I loved my body, my hair, my woman-ness, and it was done respectfully and in good-taste for the time and space we were in. I thought, "I might regret this later," but now that I look back, I don't. #noregrets here! 🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️ * * This was the moment in my life that I accepted my flaws and put them out there and it was FUN! You know, as I come across these multiple shades of me, I am so grateful for the people I know and the things I've had the chance to experience. I am also grateful to have done them transparently, honestly and with good intentions all around by the good people God placed me amongst!
