You don’t fall in love over night. You fall in love with yourself over time. And it’s likely that your ability to love yourself has been obscured from yourself your whole life. BUT it doesn’t mean it has to be! It just means you didn’t take the time, or were not taught how to take the time, or haven’t made it a priority. Or even a combination of all of these. But you must ask yourself ➡️ would you like to start? Follow @deborahmugherini for more ways to learn how to discover what you value, how to live in accordance to those values and not burnout. 💕Deborah #valuebasedliving #whatdoyouvalue #valuesforlife #iknowmyvalue #innerbeautyaddsvalue #whatdoyouvalue #liveyourvalue #liveyourvalues #valuesmatter #knowyourvalues #knowyourvalue #careerburnout #jobburnout #hospitalityburnout #serviceindustrylife #restaurantlifestyle #hospitalitylifestyle #waitresslife #serverlifestyle #justgettingby #stressfuljob #burnouttobalance #burnoutisreal #multiplejobs #resilientliving #resilientwoman #resiliancy #livinginalignment #aligningvalues #investinyourself🦋

There is diplomatic and there is steadfast. I am both. You can feel all the feels in a given day. You can see all the different sides to an argument. You can be helpful. And you can still hold your boundaries when people aren’t treating you right. I’m unavailable to being pulled into other peoples need to be manipulative in order to get their needs met. I’m unavailable to being treated like shit. And so are you. 💕Deborah

Chapter 41. 💞 40 was a fresh start and yet still full of disrespect all in one. How’s that for a dose of honest reality? ✨Pain is the gateway to greater realms of awareness. ✨ My therapist and I talk about this a lot and I’ve really been thinking about how it applies to the way I am showing up to advocate for my best interest. And so I think you need to read it … ❤️‍🩹 To heal is to experience the opposite. ❤️ It’s simple. Not complicated. But it’s also one of the hardest things you’ll ever have to do. And when situations repeat over and over again, it’s requiring you to take a hard look at your self worth, boundaries, values, and choices. I’m still walking away from people, places, things and situations that no longer serve me in healthy ways. I’m just recognizing the misalignment much quicker, and therefore, I’m taking action quicker. In doing so doesn’t mean you’re never going to experience pain or discomfort again, but rather being faced with the choice to have trust and confidence in yourself … that you deserve better. Then making that choice to go after what you do desire and deserve. Because you are worthy of it all. And if you still don’t believe you are, I’m going to believe in you for you. Don’t wait to advocate for yourself. To love yourself. To trust in yourself. Allow the lessons in life, especially the painful ones, to give you the perspective shift that the opposite experience is also available to you. It’s coming. And I’m here for it. 💕Deborah

Sometimes what starts as being simply “just feeling tired” from a long double, clopen, or shift … Unexpectingly turns to a whole slew of behaviors that are detrimental to your well-being, are not professional and don’t showcase your best self. These are the things I needed someone to say to me over the past …. ummm 3 1/2 years. And really since my first layoff in 2008 and the countless ways since then that I have had to adapt to constant change, uncertainty, and the inevitable burnout that followed. Both in and out of the hospitality industry. Kind gestures matter. Getting outside yourself, your situation, and your feelings is a helpful way to regroup and ground yourself. Especially when you recognize the burnout signs in yourself and you remember that kindness is also a self practice. When you get to the end, will you do what it says? Even if you don’t “like” this point. Please just do it. You can simply say “I read a post that said if you’re feeling depressed, numb or panic before your shift, to text someone. So I’m texting you.” The end. Xo. 💕Deborah

Flash back to that time I made a perfect cappuccino. And yes, it still takes 5 min JUST to foam the milk. My table last week called my manager over to tell her they thought I was ignoring them. They were waiting for their cappuccinos. My manger kindly told them I was in fact foaming milk for them. They still chose not to tip well citing my bad service in making them feel I wasn’t attentive enough for them. This was after full bottle service. This was after allowing them to move tables. This was after engaging them in conversation about their celebration that day. This was after having my bartender deliver drinks to my other table so I could prioritize their cappuccinos despite having other tables. Be well my restaurant worker friends. One of the biggest leading causes of burnout in our industry has to do with emotional labor and the toll it takes on us. Everyone jokes about screaming it out in the walk-in refrigerator. But when you are in need of doing this repetitively, you have to dig deeper. In my wellness and life coaching sessions, I guide you in getting clear on the root of the fatigue. There’s a lot of layers to unravel before any decision to stay or not stay in this industry can be made. Here for you. Always. Drop BURNOUT to get started. 💕Deborah

At some point the demands of life in the hospitality industry put you face to face with …. yourself, and how well your current habits serve your well-being. Is what you do on the daily really allowing you to perform at your peak? And are those habits sustainable in their capacity to take you to where you truly want to be? At some point, you can’t get by with what you are currently doing because the demands of the industry require you to up level and hone your habits. This is what I want to invite you into .. 🤔 Think about your current level of results in your well-being 👀 Look at the habits you have on a daily basis (not your aspiring habits … make an honest checklist of the habits you currently have and the outcomes you are currently holding) 1. What forms of well-being do you want to be creating for yourself? 2. What new habits do you need to start integrating in order to guarantee these well-being outcomes? 3. What is the gap between the well-being outcomes you want and the wellness habits you do not have yet? My friend, I don’t want you to burnout. I want you to get clear on your current habits so you can identify the next level habits that are keeping you from the next level outcomes you want. Once you have your list, DM “habits” to learn about the free wellness coaching package I offer for my VIP clients. 💕Deborah

Burnout in the hospitality industry is not just a passing feeling, it’s a real thing! The World Health Organization even recognizes it as an official occupational phenomenon. I recently read an awesome article that sheds light on this issue and offers practical tips to help you avoid a major burnout crash. Create a "body budget": Identify what's stressing you out, like demanding customers or long hours, and divide it into things you can control and things you can't. Focus on managing what you can control, like sleep, caffeine or alcohol intake, and setting boundaries with work. Carve out "off hours": Set aside dedicated time each day that is solely for you. It could be a few hours where work is a big no-no. Mark it on your calendar to keep work from intruding on your personal time. Set personal policies: Establish boundaries for socializing to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Let your inner circle know your availability and stick to your policies. True friends will understand and respect your need for balance. Balance the scales: Find activities that bring you joy and make sure they're incorporated into your daily life. It's all about finding a balance between tasks you dislike and those that bring you happiness and energy. Remember, these tips won't solve all the systemic issues causing burnout, but they can make a difference in your day-to-day well-being. And together, we can advocate for the bigger changes we need in the industry.
