The 1963 Westfalia SO33 Camper. We had the hubcaps off as we were bleeding and adjusting the brakes during our pre-event shakedown. New Wave Mike and I have been Volkswagen friends for over 35 years and are a great team on doing brakes. When we have the drums turned, arc the shoes, bleed and adjust all the way around at least a couple laps, and adjust the rod on the master cylinder, our brakes will be so good and solid that you push the pedal in less than an inch, let go of the wheel, you’ll stop beautifully, and smack your dome on the windshield! Cut wheel wells, fender flares, homemade tube bumpers, Jackman star wheels with monster mudders out back, external oil coolers, moonroofs, side scoops, bucket seats, gauges galore, Jerry cans, CB radio antennas, hacked bulkheads to make a bench seat Bus a Walkthru, etc. All that stuff got a Bus a date with the Sawzall at Das Bulli Butchers and we’d haul it all up to Pomona, Intershows, SOTO, Classic, and sell it all off. About 10 or 11 years ago somebody emailed me these photos of this very original 1963 Turkis and Blue White Walkthru Standard Microbus. Apparently an elderly couple, the husband was a scientist, had owned it since new. They had parked it on their property in northern New Mexico approximately 40 years ago and had covered it in tarps. It survived very well although it seems to have had one of those huge tree limbs land on the roof and do some damage in the time since these photos were taken. More! Another set of Original German Chrome Hubcaps with freshly painted logos. These are in “above average” condition, very straight, normal age-related wear including small specs in the chrome, small scratches here and there, a tiny ding, etc. They’ve been in storage for a VERY LONG time and didn’t even have any grease or grime buildup on the backsides. I would say these are totally respectable for any patina cars, survivors, or drivers. If you have high end fresh paint these aren’t as good as you might want. $350 for the set. Thanks!
