Scarlett was probably my most complicated, and costly, cosplay. After doing a generic Victorian ball gown, a couple of Union cosplays, I thought my skill had gotten high enough to tackle her. It took me a good deal of time to just remake my undergarments for this, and to build up enough cash to afford everything that I needed. It's as historically accurate as I could make it, everything is natural materials except for the print. Silk, velvet, cotton, I did my best to make it as exactly as it was for the movie. The print fabric is from Pegee of Williamsbur, who hold the right to reproduce the fabric from the actual gown. The hat, necklace and parasol (not pictures) are reproduction items from small business owners. Scarlett is probably the one that I was the most iffy on, given how historically inaccurate the movie and noel are, but the reception I had at Phoenix Fan Fusion made me feel so good. So many people recognized the character and skill that it took to make this, and even after walking ten miles in a corset and hoopskirt, I would do it again. My thanks to @susanonysko and her team for offering me a chance I never thought I would have. This is the first time I have ever had any of my cosplays professionally photographed and she did an amazing job. So it’s taken me a year and a half, but it’s finally done. Scarlett O’Hara’s barbecue dress, as screen accurate as possible. This one I actually kept track off all my expenses. $3277 on fabric and reproduction items, $2580 for the wages of a seamstress sewing for 86 hours, for a grand total of $5857. The underthings, a new hoopskirt and two new petticoats, came out to $1871. Which means that this whole costume is worth approx $7728. And this might be too fancy to wear to any convention, it lives in a garment bag next to my General Sherman cosplay because I love the dramatic irony. WIP Scarlett's return! I put it aside this summer, but I finally took the time to work on it a little. The fabric is a white cotton velvet, bought at a small price, which I machine dyed. (I used 12 meters) The dress weighs 4 kg of fabric, so I was worry about the final look of the color. Finally it worked pretty well, despite a catastrophic start (the color didn't went everywhere because there was too much fabric). There are some variations in color, some more yellow places, some more blue, but the velvet 's texture soften it a little. For the color I wanted to get closer to the color at the time of the movie, because the dress over time lost its color on several spots (we can see it on the middle picture, in the renovation workshop where it was prepared to be exposed). Sorry yet another Franklin Mint post. I have mentioned previously that I was so excited to have GWTW items offered directly to Australia - now it can feel like I have a display store for the company (sorry, I am not good at getting the right angle with a mirror backing). This is the 1991/92 set of 15 figurines of Scarlett in different Gone With the Wind Costumes. Some of these were also used for the set of 6 figurines on a stand with glass dome. The BBQ dress is not featured in this set as it was used in the GWTW characters set I posted yesterday.
