Happy Bank Holiday to everyone in the UK! I hope it's sunny where you are, it's was meant to be raining here today but we've got some glorious sunshine so I decided to take some pictures.... This vase was made with @mouldd_resin using up some leftovers from a couple of pours and it's just so pretty. Those little sparkles are from @resin_jules Twinkle Tints in Nebula. Because the resin is so shinny and the twinkle so sparkly none of my photos do this vase justice. The blue and teal pigment has created some amazing effects that I just can't capture because the resin is to shinny. I can honestly say that's never normally an issue. I'm half shouting at Mouldd to "tone then shine down" and then equally shouting back at myself "no we need the shine to be epic". Now that all the entries are in for the #soapchallengeclub , I will share I was playing along at home with you all since I can’t compete anymore. (By choice- I’m part of Bubble Support for the club) Now that things are starting to recenter in my world, I’m going to be making efforts to try and get at least 1 soap per month made in the technique. I prob won’t always meet that goal, but I told Amy I would gladly try new techniques and show how I would try to do them to help the members, and I’ve not been holding up my end of that bargain. Asides the eggs, these were all made with either pouring soap or with squeeze bottles. 'Cascade' is my first (and last) attempt at the drop swirl technique for the #soapchallengeclub this month in honour of Earth Day 🌎 In hindsight, this probably should have been my competitive entry, but I didn't notice how well the bars fit together to create the effect I was trying to achieve within each individual bar. Since I only started making soap for this month's challenge on Saturday (yes, I procrastinated), I was a bit rushed. My original plan was to create an Amazonian waterfall scene based on a photo I found. I had made sculpted layers of the rocks surrounding the pool, the pool of water at the base of the falls, and the jungle foliage. Then I abandoned my idea in favour of something else. Last night, I realized that my half created mould was still sitting there, so I made some white and some greenish-blue soap batter and poured the drop swirl to finish off the loaf. I wanted the white batter to pour through the green like a cascade of water. Although each individual bar did not look like a waterfall, when I placed them together, it created a hypnotizing aerial view! It just goes to show that I should give myself enough time to really play with the placement and photography while I still have time!! I was inspired by the typical German ‚April weather' where you can live through multiple seasons in just one day. it also rains most of the time. The idea was to use primary colors and have them merge to create an illusion of the secondary in between.. I love its beautiful drop patterns that are made from lquid soap batter. I've already learned from my experience that the pattern changes depending on the height and force when I pour the batter. Adjusting the height, amount, and position of pouring made this result. The half of the soap is drop patterns and the other half is marble patterns.It doesn't look like marble.It's different from I was expecting. But it's alright! They became volcanos! Dreaming with the Dead is my submission for this month's Soap Challenge Club. Drop swirls are one of the first techniques I learned how to do. I decided to challenge myself and experiment with new recipes. I discovered that since it's still in Illinois, my oils were cooling down too quickly and causing stearic spots. For future batches, I made sure to have my oils warmer while soaping. This soap is scented with Lavendar, Chamomile, and Lilac. The fragrance caused it to get a little thicker than I wanted, but I still love the swirls. I added a moon embed that I had made a few batches ago for my extra element. “Fish in a Colorful Drop Swirl Frame” 🐟🐠 This month’s challenge was to create drop swirls. I do wish the drops have been smaller and deeper, but the base had become a bit too thick. (at the moment it is winter where I live, instead of spring, and the temperatures fluctuate from one day to the next, from +20 to -6 degrees... from lovely sunny to ice cold snow grrr... 😱🥶 That is why I had kept the oils and lye solution warm by the stove, with the result that the soap thickened a little faster than I am used to, and I had to pour from higher up to break the base soap, which made the drops longer and larger 😰. The fish themselves I made with a cookie cutter. I first poured the base into individual cavities, and then cut them out. The colors of this soap are real, and not obtained through filters and I love how colorfull the showed up. This month's @soapchallengeclub theme was a drop swirl! While I've done other soaps using this technique, this was my first time doing one with six colors and multiple layers of each. When you are making cold process soap batter, there are several factors that can affect how fast it starts to thicken, like temperature, the fragrance used, and sometimes just the mood of any particular batch. 😂 To get the best drop swirls, you need the batter to not thicken too fast. With this many colors, I held my breath and moved quickly, and overall I love how it turned out! Why so many colors, you ask? This will be the third soap option (of three) included in my Pride Month fundraiser to benefit @sageusa. The other two also featured six colors but used different techniques. All three kinds smell lovely and turned out so pretty, I can't wait to share them with you on June 1. Meanwhile, wish me luck in this month's contest! Here’s my entry for this month’s @soapchallengeclub 🙂 The challenge this month was the drop swirl. I’ve been experimenting with drop swirls since the early early days of soapmaking, and the majority of my soaps now have some form of a drop swirl. So, for this challenge, I thought I’d try a new technique. I put each color of the rainbow into a squeeze bottle and dropped the colors in that way instead of my usual way of just pouring from a pitcher. This was very time consuming 😆 but I learned a lot about this way of pouring drop swirls and I’m kind of digging the result! The Soap Challenge Club April 2024 challenge is drop swirls. There are many different drop swirl techniques, but my favorite is the mini drops swirl. As my additional element, I chose to do an ombre pour. The fragrance for this soap is White Tea and Ginger from @thefragrancebuddy which is one of my favorites and behaves beautifully, allowing for plenty of time for a pour like this. Goldie in a Bowl... ...is my entry for the advanced category of the April Challenge of the Soap Challenge Club. This Drop Swirl Challenge was so much fun and allows creativity limitless possibilities. I'm really looking forward to the great soaps we'll see again this month. My soap is Goldie Bowl consists of a small dropswirl of gold, brown and coffee powder for the ground of the Bowl. I made the little plant out of soap dough. I then filled in a small gradient and inserted the fish. The upper dropwirl is made of different shades of green and white. I like this little guy. I tried a total of 3 color variations. For the first version (purple), I filled in the dropswirl from the measuring cups, which was clumsy due to the selfmade pringles soap mold. That's why I used the second version (green) then the squeeze bottles. That worked great. With the third version (blue) I tried out a new men's fragrance...which unfortunately went on quickly, which is why there was no longer a drop swirl...but I still like the result. Bubble tea soap is my bonus entry for the April Challenge of the soap challenge club. My teenage girls love bubble tea and recently on a Sunday outing my husband and I had to treat our kids to bubble tea instead of ice cream. Parents do strange things to lure teenagers out of the house... The little shop was decorated like a Super Mario game...very cool...and there were also cartoon pictures of bubble tea cups on the wall. When I saw these pictures, I had the idea of making bubble tea soap for the teenagers while I was still in the store. I originally wanted to make a gradient soap - but I thought the idea could also be easily implemented as a dropswirl soap. It is scented with apricot cake from Manske. And the girls love it. For the month of April, in the Soap Challenge club, we had to create soap using the Drop swirl technique. This technique looks very simple, but appearances are deceiving. I made three soaps and not one of them has a perfect drop swirl😢 50-100% of the soap for the Advanced category had to be Drop swirl, the rest was up to us. For my soap, I chose a summer theme 🌅of a road to the sea, lined with grass, a dramatic sunset....I guess I need a vacation 😂 I made the grass and the road from embeds, half of the soap is the sea using the pot swirl technique and the other half is the sky using the drop swirl technique. “Swan Lake” is my April submission for the Drop Swirl challenge in the @soapchallengeclub 🦢 The idea for this one came to me while driving 5 hours to and from my daughter’s volleyball tournament. 😁 I drew out my plan, then created a “cookie” cutter for the legs and scrapers for the tutu shape. I cut legs out of black soap dough and glued them all together with water to make a log. I placed the leg log in the bottom of the mold and poured a gray ombré around it and let it set up. Then I scraped the back tutu shape and proceeded with the drop swirl. I thought by dusting a black mica line on the front edge of the tutu, it would be a little more defined. However, the line is not very noticeable in the final soap. I still like the overall effect. The drop swirl technique worked to give the illusion of fluffy (maybe feathery?) layers for my ballerina. I really enjoyed trying out some new ideas for this soap. Thanks to Amy Warden for another creative @soapchallengeclub ! Wiesenkräuterseife Inspiriert durch die Allgäuer Bergwiesen, die irgendwie immer grüner sind als andere Wiesen gespickt vielen bunten Blüten...einfach schön. Daher dekoriert mit Allgäuer Wildkräutern und beduftet mit Herbs-Ex von Behawe. Rosenblütentee-Milchseife Hier zeige ich euch nun das geschnittene Traumschaumstück! Sehr zart rosa in Kombination mit cremeweiß. Dieser Cremeton liegt an der Hafermilch, die ich als Laugenflüssigkeit verwendet habe. Bisher hatte ich Kokosmilch in diesem Rezept eingesetzt, welche eher weiß blieb. Ever burned a batch of soap? I have. I decided to do a quick CPOP on a recent drop swirl and threw it in on the lowest setting (or so I thought). 🤦♀️ I went about my clean up as usual, completely distracted by the podcast I was listening to.
