Behind The Scenes The Marine Corps Bands are self-sustaining units. In addition to being Marine musicians, each Marine in our field performs additional duties to provide mission support. Our Administration Office works tirelessly to coordinate daily events for the band. “Highest Quality Craftsmanship” The 2nd Marine Division Band recently received four rope-tension snare drums and two rope-tension bass drums. The custom design features the 2nd Marine Division emblem and references all wars the Division has fought in. These drums feature handmade craftsmanship, kevlar core ropes, and quantum barter heads designed by Loyal Drums. Recruited out Phoenix, AZ, MSgt Merville completed several enlistments as a Trombone Instrumentalist before attending the Instrument Repair Technician Course at the Minnesota State College. There he gained the necessary skills to become a Marine Corps IRT. You will be greatly missed! Sgt Richardson served as a Tuba Instrumentalist in the Brass Quintet and Ceremonial band. He also held billets as Platoon Guide, Sergeant of the Guard, Brass Quintet Unit Leader, Tuba Section Leader, Unit Transition Coordinator, Command Physical Training Representative, Range Safety Officer, Position Safety Officer, and wrote the drill for the 2022 Belgian Defense International Tattoo. Sgt Richardson was also deployed on the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) during his time here. He is headed to the Unit Leader Course at Navy School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia to further his career as a Marine Musician. Cpl Carreon served as a Trumpet Instrumentalist in the Ceremonial Band, Brass Quintet, and Brass Band. Along with his musicianship, he also served as Defense Travel System Clerk, Transportation Chief, bus driver, and carried out training for other Marines to become bus drivers. Cpl Carreon plans to play trumpet for a mariachi after the Marine Corps to further his musical career!
