When you think of the typical bookworm, what comes to mind? Perhaps a diligent, introvert student, with a hand always raised to answer any question. A feeling of envy, disguised by contempt and mockery, may tingle your skull. Or you could be invested by sympathy, since you were that bookworm. Either case, I hope you’ll be pleased to meet Paul. In all the pigdom, there are a few brilliant students as Paul. At the age of seven, he is already crawling in the fundamentals of physics, so that one day he will be an astronaut and go studying the Universe. More than everything though, he wants to stop being alone: other piglets mock him, and never invite him to play. If being prodigiously smart wasn’t enough to alienate him, Paul’s school lunches are also different. As his family, he’s an Advancist, a religion which doesn’t allow him to eat what others consider “delicacies”, like apes. It so happens that at every lunch he receives a second blow of criticisms and loneliness. Nonetheless, for clever as he is, Paul has a plan. As every plan, there are some risks, but he’s ready to take them because, if it works, he’ll make new friends. Which is Paul’s plan to make friends? Will he succeed? This morning we went to see our local vet for Toullie's x rays, and sadly, a little wild goat that we found injured needed to be put to sleep. His injuries were too severe 😪 As for Toullie, the x-rays show that she appears to have a build-up of faeces in her bowel, and whether that is coming out is not clear. She appears to be pooping but it may be a build up of other fluids in her system, due to the colour and texture. The concern is there's no exit route for her poop and surgery is most likely required. At this point she is happy within herself and not feeling unwell. She's drinking her milk and playing and sleeping just like a normal piglet. We will have to get her up to Gatton Uni vets next week. My dear mum's funeral is on Thursday in Sydney, so everything is crossed she'll be OK until I return. Her current vitality indicates she will be. In the meantime, we urgently need some help with our feed and vet bills. We owe our Local vet around $1100. You can call and pay some off over the phone if you'd like to help us out 02 6736 2233. Our feed bill at Norco Tenterfield is up over our account limit. They can also be contacted on 02 6736 7300. We can't oder more feed without it being down enough to cover the next delivery.
