Tonight’s sunset at the lighthouse! One of my favorite things to witness is the American flag going up at sunrise and being taken down at sunset. During the mornings they always play trumpets while raising the flag and it really is the best way to start the day. This evening I was able to chat with the guy after he took down the flag. I also sent him the photos I took. It’s so special having an active Coast Guard Station adjacent to the lighthouse. There are not many lighthouse complex’s like this in New England 🌅🇺🇸💡🌊

The Fire Rescue Department is accepting applications to its Citizens Fire Academy. The Citizens Fire Academy is an 8-week program designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of fire, rescue, and emergency medical operations in The Chatham Fire Rescue Department. The Academy will help to enhance the participants’ knowledge of The Chatham Fire Rescue Department’s capabilities, day to day operations and activities. Participants will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience (voluntary). Applications are available at Chatham Fire Headquarters. Wednesdays March 27th – May 15th from 6:00 pm-9:00 pm Chatham Fire Rescue Headquarters, 135 Depot Rd Deadline for application submission: March 15th Sample Topics: Department Tour and History, personal protective equipment and self-contained breathing apparatus, fire apparatus and equipment, thermal imaging cameras, search and rescue, fire extinguishers, ambulance operations and equipment, CPR, first aid and basic medical treatment, bleeding control, tower ladder operations, special teams, dive, water and technical rescue, dispatch and communications. I enjoyed a lovely morning wander at sylvan gardens trail in Chatham… I felt like I was strolling in someone’s lovely garden with beautiful views of a fresh water pond.. it is 10 acres of conservation land .. I hear the the daffodils and tulips in the spring are breathtaking … I will definitely find myself back at this spot again and again… nicely maintained with lots of benches to ponder!!
