Grizzly went on his first outing! First we stopped and people watched in front of Costco. Grizzly is a little on the nervous side so allowing him to chill and take in all the surroundings was a great socialization opportunity. Next we headed to the garden department in Home Depot where Grizzly was exposed to more people, machines and loud noises. His favorite part of his outing was smelling flowers. Overall not a bad first outing for Grizzly!

It was a puppy palooza! Thanks @countrysidecorso for having us come out and temperament test your 8 sweet pups! These pups are 5 weeks old and were the cutest babies! We can’t wait to watch them grow as you prep them for their new homes! Temperament tests help breeders have a better understanding of each puppy and their personality based on 6 categories: social, auditory, visual, touch, motion and an unexpected stimulus. The info will then help the breeder place the puppy in a home best suited for them.

Remember that socialization isn’t just about your dogs interacting with other dogs or people. It is also about exposing them to new objects, surfaces sounds and environments. At Ryker we try to expose our training dogs to different everyday objects ranging from balloons to skateboards. Grizzly wasn’t quite sure about the walker and the weird sounds it would make when it’s being used. After some observing from a distance and courage from treats, he realized the walker isn’t scary at all!

She was rescued from crate living and has been living her best life ever since! •• Fun facts about Neekah: •• - Neekah is a certified service animal. She has the most docile temperament, plays well with dogs of all ages, & has had to learn how to be a “dog!” - Neekah is very expressive and 99.9% you know exactly what she is trying to communicate to you! She yaps, uses her snout, and will be vocal in her persistence in getting her needs met. (Goals! 🥹) - Bardia and I stumbled upon Neekah and her owner, @gggiralico as we were walking the streets of downtown one chilly drizzly morning in downtown LB. I was on my way to buy a 40 pound bag of dog food from @brucesemptybowl and was contemplating how I was going to walk home in the rain with a giant bag almost half my weight! 😅 Thankfully, @gggiralico took me up on my offer of splitting the bag if he helped me carry it home. Moose did some confidence building during his training session. One of the obstacles he had to do was get on and off a box. The box helps with his coordination and teaches him how to use his back legs independently from his front. This exercise can make getting in and out of cars much easier.
