Happy #tongueouttuesday from Miss Remy! 😋 We took our girl to get her bandage removed and her incision checked this morning. Incision looks good, but the bandage was too tight and caused some pretty bad irritation and a couple sores. They gave her a laser treatment and she is on antibiotics for 10 days.. Until today, recovery has been going great and she hasn’t seemed uncomfortable at all. Post-Op Day 2: Remington had a really good day today! ♥️ The anesthesia has worn off and she’s back to herself, besides napping quite a bit. 🩷 She slept great last night, her appetite is normal and it’s much easier to get her up and outside since she isn’t groggy and she’s able to bear a little weight on her surgical leg now. She enjoyed her fist post-op puppuccino this morning, had a chicken finger from @raisingcanes and spent a little time outside, which she loved. Today was a better day for this cute little patient. Marley went outside to do her business three times, although she did have a couple of accidents over yesterday and today, attributable to the meds. She even indicated the last time she went out that she needed to go. Her hematoma seemed to get better last night but it’s back again; it doesn’t seem to be causing her as much discomfort as before, though and the colouring is changing hopefully for the better. She let me ice, massage and elevate her leg with only a bit of grumbling. She came out into the living from for the first time and watched some TV. I kept her gated off though because I don’t trust that Dolly will leave her alone. Post-Op Day 1 and Miss Remy is doing good. She had a great night last night and has done well today. She has an awesome appetite and doesn’t seem too uncomfortable. CCL DAY 18-19: Post-surgery Jaws didn’t lose his big appetite. He chowed down his first meal after surgery. He did not urinate or defecate that day (surgery day). We took him to the backyard a few times to encourage him to urinate, but he just stood there. He hated the sling. We decided not to give him trazodone as he was barely moving. The next morning (day 18), we noticed he had an accident on the bed. He started leaking urine 2-3 times every hour. We placed pee pads underneath him, but his incision was exposed to the urine. We tried to replace the pee pads and wipe him every time he leaked. But it was constant, so we bought diapers to prevent his incision from getting wet with urine. He eventually urinated that day at 4 PM and the accidents stopped. His incision and the area around it got more red and a bit swollen. We were told it is normal to not have any bowel movements 3-5 days after surgery. He defecated on the 3rd day. On day 19, he was feeling better and moving more. We took him out shopping in his trusty @PetGearInc stroller. He enjoyed being out of the house.

Cavalettis are now part of both dog's rehab plans! Griphook gets a little height and Rowena is just starting out on the ground. I had gotten into a good groove with working on Rowena's rehab. Now I have to figure out how to get everything in for both dogs every day! The only way I can be successful with this is to keep their individual sets up so we can just run thru them on our walks/potty breaks. CCL DAY 17: Surgery day We dropped off Jaws @AnimalSurgicalCenter around 7:30 AM. They called us when he was about to undergo surgery. After the surgery, they texted us a photo of Jaws when he was waking up. A technician called to tell us when we could pick him up. Dr Jin then called to say the surgery went well and answered any questions we had. We picked Jaws up around 4:30 PM. We met with a technician and she explained the post-surgery instructions. We were given galliprant and gabapentin for pain, trazodone to keep Jaws calm, cephalexin (antibiotic), sling to help him walk, and e-collar of course. CCL DAY 7: Surgical consultations Jaws started putting some weight on his injured leg. By this time, we have all adapted to our new routine from meal and medication schedule to urinating and defecating. Yes, he finally pooped on the 3rd day since he tore his CCL. We visited two surgeons in Manhattan and Long Island. Jaws was pooped at the end of the day. We saw Dr Andrew Kyles @HVSNYC. He was very informative and proposed Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA). They quoted us $7169-$8569 for the surgery with an overnight stay. The consultation cost us $285. We saw Dr Dong-Woo Jin @AnimalSurgicalCenter. He was very informative as well and proposed Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy (TPLO). They quoted us $6747.23-$7447.91 for the surgery with same day pickup. The consultation cost us $185. Our @FetchPetInsurance plan covered 80% of both consultation costs. We decided TPLO would be best for Jaws, so we scheduled his surgery with @AnimalSurgicalCenter the following week.

Rowena thoroughly enjoyed her walk today. She's allowed 20 minutes on leash now. First she spotted the sheep and goats. I think she'd very much like to be a herding dog. Then she very thoroughly sniffed the fence line that we share with the neighbors dogs. Then she finally got to go where she's been dying to go! Around the back of the pasture down groundhog alley. She sniffed every hole. As we came around the back of the Agility Ring the other neighbors came blasting up their back field on the snow mobile. She thought that was super exciting and probably would have considered chasing after them if she wasn't on a leash. She was so curious about them and intently watched them. Once she got to watch them for a minute she was perfectly content to continue walking along next to them zooming around on their field.
