We had a Minecraft inspired building session at school today. We used the creature shapes that the game creates to help us understand how to build our own animals and creatures. We took into consideration how each component of our creature can be thought of as a block or series of blocks and then when combined together we get the basic shape. Next week we’ll be taking our square shaped, Minecraft inspired creatures to the next level by building on the blocky foundations to add in curves, snot building techniques and articulated joints. Look at our piles…. Said no one ever 😂 Plate modified sorting is always a bit of a slog of a mission. Lots of very similar looking pieces means that you’ve really got to concentrate hard otherwise your piles get mixed very quickly. These certainly aren’t the best piles, we usually use cups to help separate but today we’ve been taking our piles outside to get that vitamin d charged up so it’s turned to a bit of a mess. It’s been a fun afternoon working with our little builders. Look at this mischievous little chap that was created. Apparently he likes to use his shovel hands to dig up rocks and eat them. This week our youngest builders have been working on creating their own pets. They were allowed to make them as crazy as possible. That meant we saw some wonderful designs such as this smiling lion with a brick separator tail. Allegedly his tail is for taking apart other creatures so he can eat them without having to make a mess 😂 We just love what goes on in their brains! With visitors from far and wide we’re always extra grateful to those that have had a bit of a journey. These guys had made over an hours drive to be with us.
