Morning sunshine on the sketchbook. Iris pseudacorus from the pond on the lane. I was a bit late getting round to it and very few flowers left that I could get anywhere near to without falling in! It made a nice change to paint a larger flower - seems my subjects are often very small, so this was pretty quick to finish. I’m also sure I’ve painted more yellow flowers than any other colour….. will check that 🤔 The year is moving fast and we’re at the summer solstice already….. so better get painting! Oh I used some BlockX yellows here, I found them a little more saturated than Winsor and Newton so they need to be diluted more. Todays sketchbook well underway…. But will I finish it tonight…Probably not…. but I’ll give it my best shot. Love this tree, it’s a native, Field Maple, Acer campestre. Soon the all of the leaves will be yellow and on the ground. The colour shifts are so beautiful in every part and phase of this plant.
