Last day of April and we have successfully rooted nearly every one of our 60 varieties of heirloom cut flower Mums. A couple more weeks and we’ll be done with this task. We grow several plants of each variety over the season for Fall bouquets, so that’s lots of cuttings to root in the Spring. The flowers are best quality coming from a new cutting each year versus growing from last year’s mother plant. Plus we keep one of each potted in our sunroom as to not lose the variety to any pest or weather issues. We’ve lost some in the past. Here’s our first picture 7 years ago of stray ginger Rusti deciding she wanted to supervise us planting Lisianthus. She’d been watching us from a far and went on a walk with us this day. She’s been our flower cat ever since. 😻 Maggie is being tolerant of her cone & meds, seems comfortable and spent some time helping plant today.
