Introducing Ikaros, the face of Ikarian Canine! Ikaros has made me passionate about dog training, and while dog training was always an interest of mine, Ikaros has really inspired me to take it to the next level. Funny and playful, Ikaros did not come to me perfect. Rescued from the Animal Foundation in June of 2021, she was anxious and scared of everything—including me. Her time in the shelter was so stressful, she could not eat, meaning she was very emaciated when I got her. We spent many days just sitting together, allowing her to build up the confidence she needed to feel comfortable. Nowadays, Ikaros enjoys her time hiking in the mountains and knows a fair bit of tricks with plans to pick up many more. Once a dog unable to be within a football field of other dogs without going over threshold, now her excitement and reactivity have settled into a more manageable reaction. We still continue to work on neutrality around other dogs. These two pictures showcase the beginning of her journey in regards to learning the “up” command and applying it to various terrains. The Spicy Kittens are slowly losing their spice and we're finally able to get some better pictures. Ursula (tortie girl) is less the alpha and finally settling in. Bob, previously known as Hook, has just a tiny bobtail and is probably the spiciest, but relaxes soon after you pick him up & give him head rubs (biggest floof). Yoda, previously known as Scar (we think they mixed up the boy's names), has 50-60% of a tail with a kink at the end that looks like a hook - it doesn't come out very obviously in pictures. New foster alert - Meet Linguine! I'm fostering this pretty boy for the Animal Foundation's "Best in Show" event, where he will be available for auction adoption. A little bit about him: Linguine is a 1-year old, 20 lbs Retriever mix. He's food-driven, loves to play, and follows his humans around the house - all traits that make him incredibly trainable. He gets along with other dogs, is housebroken, and uses the doggy door. Despite his puppy energy, he calms down quickly. Update: We were able to partner up with Pawsitive Difference Rescue where he got scanned- they found he was in fact chipped and will work on finding his previous owners. They’re a non profit local rescue that will work to rehome him if unable to reunite him. Thank you to everyone for the great advice. ——— Jackson found this little nugget wandering into the intersection of Ft Apache and Desert Inn. We already have 3 and since Hank is considered elderly, can’t risk bringing potential infection or parasites into our house. He’s currently being kept in the laundry room.
