Had the craziest time at the.botanical.expo yesterday with some of the most awesome planty people around! 🌿💚🙏🏼 There were so many fantastic vendors - I can only tag 20 so I'm sorry if you're missed - and I'm glad I got some more help at the booth this time so I could make a few rounds to chat and meet with everyone and also do some shopping 🤪. Crystal the Anthurium crystallinum has shed most of her leaves from last year, but grew out 5 new ones during the past months 🥰💚🙌🏼 . I find her to be one of the easier Anthuriums in my collection. Bob the boob cactus is growing and he ain't stopping for no one! 😆🌿 . I've had this funny succulent for 1 and 1/2 years now and she has grown nearly 3 times the size! . He is a relatively easy plant, I treat it just like a succulent and keep him at a sunny, south facing windowsill, water it every 10-14 days or when I see some sagging.... I mean wrinkles on him. Bob the boob cactus is growing and he ain't stopping for no one! 😆🌿 . I've had this funny succulent for 1 and 1/2 years now and she has grown nearly 3 times the size! . He is a relatively easy plant, I treat it just like a succulent and keep him at a sunny, south facing windowsill, water it every 10-14 days or when I see some sagging.... I mean wrinkles on him. A phenomenon about air plants is that they die after producing inflorescence - which sounds really sad but the truth is far from it! 😉💚 . While it's true that air plants stop growing larger after blooming, they don't actually die off right away after producing flowers. Instead, they continue to absorb light, water and nutrients and start to use them to focus on producing pups aka. baby air plants! 🥰 Eventually the mother plant will be depleted of energy and fade out, but by this point the pup or pups would already have grown into adult size, and some would even be ready to produce blooms of their own! . This process can take anywhere from 1 to even 3-5 years depending on species, larger species like xerographica can continue to live for a long, long time while raising the pups. It's a beautiful cycle of life and definitely not a sad thing! 🌿 . Hello Sunday! 🌿💯😍 I've been kinda obsessed with this neon green philo lately - he lost all the leaves during winter but came back like a champ! I haven't even repotted him yet, as you can see he's still in his tiny 4" pot, but has bunch of aerial roots and growing ginormous leaves one after another 🤩 . Air plant tip of the day 😁🌿🙌🏼 When in bloom, you can still water your Tilly, but try to avoid getting the flowers wet, this will prolong the bloom period and also prevent fungal issues, I do so by spraying just the leaves or dip the plant in a shallow bowl so the water doesn't get to the bloom. . A phenomenon about air plants is that they die after producing inflorescence - which sounds really sad but the truth is far from it! 😉💚 . While it's true that air plants stop growing larger after blooming, they don't actually die off right away after producing flowers. Instead, they continue to absorb light, water and nutrients and start to use them to focus on producing pups aka. baby air plants! 🥰 Eventually the mother plant will be depleted of energy and fade out, but by this point the pup or pups would already have grown into adult size, and some would even be ready to produce blooms of their own! . This process can take anywhere from 1 to even 3-5 years depending on species, larger species like xerographica can continue to live for a long, long time while raising the pups. It's a beautiful cycle of life and definitely not a sad thing! 🌿 . Back from the dead 😆 Came back from our Japan trip and was hit with some serious jetlag. On top of that school started pretty much right away, so scheduling everything was even crazier! But I'm happy to report that plants were all taken care of by my mom superbly and lots of blooms and surprises in the two weeks away! These large T. ionantha Ecuador were almost all in colour and blooming 🤩🌷 . Hope everyone had a great rest of their summer, it's crazy that fall is already here....
