Eran los amigos de la compañía nacional dominicana de danza, bajo los arcos de la piscina. Este proyecto es familiar, somos dos españoles que decidimos restaurar un edificio en ruinas, primando el espacio de patio y jardines antes que aumentar el numero de habitaciones. El resultado es un espacio de más privacidad y espacio que casi todos los lugares cercanos. Elegimos restaurar en lugar de demoler y construir, porque el edificio más ecológico es el que ya existe. No hay imitaciones de arquitectura antigua. Aquí lo antiguo es antiguo, y lo nuevo es nuevo. Nos honra contar la historia del edificio, parte primer hospital de América, San Nicolás de Bari. Core 2024 memory: seeing wild elephants for the first time 🥺 This was one of the many things I was most looking forward to in Kenya. For this and so many other adventures throughout my month in Africa’s safari country (don’t worry – safari recap coming soon!), I brought my favorite @unboundmerino staples. In inland Malindi, about 30 minutes from the coast, elephants gather at a watering hole at dusk for a daily cool-down. If you’re lucky, you can gather here as well before dark for the possibility of seeing them. The air is thick – partially with the anticipation of seeing gentle giants in the distance, but mostly because of the sweltering heat. Even standing still, sweat beaded down my face as I watched and hoped that we’d get lucky 🙏🏽 Merino wool does the job on days like this, especially. It wicks away moisture and doesn’t absorb or emit any odor. You might judge me for this, but it meant I got to rewear these clothes a LOT, and I did 😌 Right at dusk, after nearly an hour of waiting, the first elephant appeared. Morning coffee on the ferry into Marseille ⚓️🛟🌅☕️ Taking an overnight ferry between Corsica and mainland France has been a dream of mine for years and the reality lived up to the hype. The energy at the snack bar after our 7pm departure was unlike any I’ve experienced in a long time—definitely not since pre-Covid, but maybe even going all the way back to school cafeteria days. Super social, buoyant, buzzing with activity. Families and military men chatted over pizza and beer while kids hopped and dashed around the play area, and curious passengers (like us) explored every nook and cranny of the ferry for the best views of the sunset. No one was on a phone. No one had to mind their luggage, which was safely locked away. There was none of the exhaustion and stress of plane travel; in fact, it all felt rather leisurely. These clumsy cuddlers forage at sea and sneeze out salt. What’s not to love? 3. Galapagos Giant tortoise — this guy is an impressive 150 years young 4. Galapagos dove — they are big fans of cacti (honestly, same) 5. Blue-footed booby — clownish birds named after the Spanish word “bobo” (get your head out of the gutter) 6. Lava lizard — miniature profesional sunbathers who also excel at scurrying 7. Santa Fe land iguana — this chonky species is found only on Santa Fe Island 8. Green sea turtle — they are actually speedy in water, able to swim up to 35 mph (can confirm they are both amazing and terrifying to swim with) 9. Galapagos sea lion — these sleepy guys are ridiculously cute and have an impressive range of squelching sounds

Forte dei Marmi doesn’t immediately strike you with its beauty like Capri does, and it’s definitely not as famous, but for those in-the-know it represents il dolce far niente of a quintessential Italian summer. It’s been on my must-visit list for years, so I was thrilled to spend 48 hours there ahead of the busy summer season. When you have a rescue dog who is terrified of unlikely things and is thus impossible to walk on regular streets (fine in the hills!) you take shots of light with your mind - but your hands are too full to juggle camera and dog together
