This time a year ago, I was rushed to the hospital after working a ice storm up north. My body shut down doctors told me “you have some strong people praying over you son because at the least you should be on dialysis for the rest of your life!!”. I was alone, scared, cried everyday from the extreme pain I was suffering from, and I missed Christmas with everyone I love.. In the end I was extremely blessed to even make it through, built my faith stronger, my relationship with God was strengthened, had to step back and look at my life and tell myself “no more half way doing it, GOD I AM COMPLETELY YOURS”. As the new year comes in I have crossed out alot of things already but my list is still long, and with the help of God I will tackle the next chapter!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!! Words. Sometimes they come easy, and other times, it’s a real struggle. I make all the plans. Yes, I will write “that” blog post this week. Oh I have a million ideas for social media posts, I’m gonna write them all! I’ll talk about “that” in my newsletter next week. Oh there’s that “thing” you want to explain! So many words for so many places. (Not even talking about book writing ha. That’s a whole other kettle o’ fish.) And then the time comes to write the thing and there is no will or desire to do it. I’ve made plans to go offline for a few days, even take myself away to do a mini writing retreat to get all the things I want to write about out of my head, but I have never actually done it. I know me. My head needs to be fully into the thing I am writing about for it to happen. If I am excited and fired up about a thing, the absolute best time to write it is right then and there. It’s rare that I can do that fully though. Love it when I do, as most of the time, that excited, fired up writing is pretty good. If I can get a draft done, or even some bullet points of whatever it is at that stage, the getting it done and finished and published is much easier later. The longer I do this, the more systems I have in place to make the best use of my time. With the words thing, I have places I can go to quickly and make notes when the fire is there so I don't have to rekindle it from scratch when I do have the space to write. It’s working mostly. Less staring at the screen waiting for the words to come. They pretty much fly onto the screen if I trust me to write down the fire as it happens. I found this phrase in one of my late teacher’s works displayed on the walls of a sushi shop near his house. I like the phrase very much and write it very often. And I used to translate this “One Heart” part as “dedicated mind” and explain the whole term as “a dedicated mind to one thing would yield many good results”.
However, I thought it should have been “determined mind” when I heard the lay sermon by the chief priest of the temple my family has been following.
