Also had a blast meeting all the other amazing filmmakers, seeing their beautiful films, and learning about the issues they care about. On top of the festival, the past two weeks were an absolute blast and full of firsts for me. I got to see lots of old friends and make a ton of new ones, swim with Bull Sharks, dive with Manatees, catch Alligators from a canoe, explore Naples and Sanibel Island, photograph plenty of wildlife, hang with my Grandma, and even take a nap on South Beach. The Chadar Trek is a winter trail over the frozen Zanskar River, which lies in the Indian union territory of Ladakh. It is traditionally the only means of travel in the area during the harsh winter months. The trail has become popular with foreign adventure tourists. Chadar trek starts from Chilling however with time the organisers tend to drive ahead to about 1 km away from the first camp at Tilad Sumdo (10,390 ft) or motorable Shingra Koma. Over the next days the trek moves to higher camps via Tsomo Paldar & Tibb cave to Nerak (11,150 ft). Nerak is the frozen waterfall and the return point of the trek, after this trekkers traverse back to the Shingra Koma starting point. NT FIELD NATURALISTS’ CLUB - August monthly meeting . Join us for this talk by Amanda Lilleyman who will take you on a birding journey through Darwin and why this city is the ‘City of Birds’. Within 20 minutes of the Darwin CBD, you can see over 300 species of birds! Many of these are Top End specialists, found in monsoon forest, coastal fringes, floodplains, wetlands and on beaches. These birds play important roles within the functioning of ecosystems, they contribute to the NT economy as many tourists visit Darwin and spend time searching for a range of species around town. The bird diversity that is all around us also plays a role in our wellbeing, not only by connecting humans with nature, but also by being the focus of community groups and bringing people together (such as this event!). Having a community of people working together to monitor, birdwatch, paint, and talk about birds improves social wellbeing within a region. We have a lot to thank birds for! . Bitter Springs is a naturally warm thermal pool where you can float down the creek "lazy river" style and a very popular tourist destination. Gonbo Rangjon ⛰️is a stand-alone lofty rocky precipice located south of Kargyak village in the Lungnak valley, Zanskar. It is considered to be holy and referred to as God's Mountain by the local inhabitants who practice Tibetan Buddhism. Gonbo Rangjon lies along the Darcha - Padum trek route and the Darcha - Padum road. Gonbo Rangjon can be seen from the village of Kargyak which is about 16 km to the north. More September Litchfield throwbacks. Now this was an awesome tour!! Unfortunately I didn’t realise quite how far from our campsite it actually was, so it entailed a very early start and a very fast and bumpy 4wd out of our campsite to get there in time (or maybe slightly late 😜). First up, a lovely brekkie cruise on the river, and then a fantastic airboat ride, where we didn’t actually see any crocs in situ, as apparently it was romancing season and they’d been up partying all night so were all having a well-deserved lie-in. Probably a good thing as the poor dog fell off the boat at one point! We did see a croc nest complete with eggs though, which our extremely brave guide dug out to show us - being very careful not to turn them as if they do the baby croc inside can drown. Accanto al piccolo villaggio di Gásadalur, considerato il punto più remoto di tutta l’isola poiché fino a poco tempo fa era raggiungibile solo arrivando a piedi attraversando le montagne di Vagar. Oggi invece attraverso una galleria scavata nella roccia abbastanza rudimentale dove passa solo un auto si raggiunge il remoto paesino incastonato sulla scogliera. Proprio sotto di esso si butta nell'impetuoso oeano la cascata di Múlafossur. After spending a couple of weeks holidaying in the Top End we're home! Huge thanks to Cate and Sean for your kind hospitality and taking Steve and I on an outback adventure we won't forget in a long time! It was so beautiful and peaceful to explore Litchfield while camping under the stars by a waterfall for a few days! Looking forward to another night of Code Games 🥰🏕 We then headed into Darwin and stayed on the waterfront we’re we enjoyed some pretty action packed days with so many of our wonderful friends making very special memories 🥰🌅 Some of the highlights were: ~ Dinner and drinks with Cate and Sean ~ Steve enjoying one of his 50th birthday presents on the sunset JetSki ride ~ The Precinct ~ The Royal Flying Doctors and Darwin Bombing museum and boat tour ~ Mindil beach market ~ Matt Wright safari day tour ~ Dinner and drinks at Crustaceans ~ Stokes Hill Wharf drinks and views ~ Parap market and massages ~ Darwin Harbour sunset cruise ~ Dinner and drinks at Lola’s Cullen Bay ~ Steve and the boys Barefoot Bowling ~ Dinner at the Ski Club ~ Darwin Sailing club ~ Pub tour to the Darwin Tavern, Noonamah Humpty Doo and Berry Springs pub and waterfalls ~ The Oyster Bar ~ Chow ~ Fiddlers Irish Pub ~ Relaxing by the beach at the waterfront ~ Beautiful walks through the esplanade and so much more!!
